Aftermarket alarms.

Im doing alot of very expensive mods on the car and now its time to starting thinking about extra security. My question is do you guys, and now gals , think the stock unit is okay enough, or should I do like a compustar or viper two way with remote start? Crime isnt really an issue where i live, but tis the places i may park, clubs, movies, malls yadda yadda where most things happen. All suggestions are welcome, thanks again.

hmm i never lock my car at all in my neighborhood, not even in my school, but i remember in about 1998(10 years ago) there were some security device is like when some people touch your car or break in, the car cell phone would automatic call you and you can listen what going on, kinda cool tho, but useless....

the car is very hard to steal as it is...i'd say leave it unless you have a $2k headunit...

I dont know how hard it is to do with the laser key...Doesn't the key disable some security?

Just add the OEM Interior Motion Sensor and you have the same benefits of any aftermarket alarm (w/ exception of the ones that page you when the car is broken into).

You can get the parts from MBenzNL, but he doesn't do install on this (because the headliner needs to be cut in order to install).

I only need 2 more parts, but plan on installing sometime in the near future. There is a thread somewhere that describes the IMS. Also check out Saprissa's coupe thread. He has DIY pics in there.

Pretty sweet, okay, thankx guys, i just didnt know the quality of the MB alarms. But yeah mine also came with a tilt sensor, so if someone is trying to jack your wheels and tilts the car it will sound off. Not sure if that was an extra, but found out the hard way when i had to jack the car to do the driver fog hid.

I'd love remote start. It would be like, " so uh which cars yours?" "Beep" "Vroom"

Outtaurlegue - you should look into getting a spoiler or two to finish your car off.

Stock alarm is good enough. Man, if someone wants to steal a car, no offense to us, but steal a freaking Bentley, why go halfway, go for the real bang for buck. The consequence is the same anyway... It's not like you get 10 years in jail for a Ferrari and 1 month for Ford Fusion.

What'cha going do, steal a Ford Fusion, sell it and get an iPod Video? I'd rather steal a Maybach and get house!
