adding chips to NA engines do not add much power, perhaps 10-15HP and about the same amount of torque. Forced inductions are much better to add chips to because the amount of boost can be altered, therefore adding better power ratios for the money spent.

However, there are some chips out there for NA engines for MB. One off the top of my head is Powerchip Group. Google them.

I looked them up and for the c240 they offer just under 20hp and 20 ft lbs for 640$. Does that seem like a good deal? 20 just doesnt seem like much gain for that kind of money. There's gotta be a better way, am I outa line?

20 will do that? I noticed when I drive it hard causing it to wake from the slumber my wife puts it in, the throttle response is great. I wonder if the reprogramming of the ecu just locks it in the performace mode all the time, disabling "adaptation". Guess I could email the company about that.

you will probably feel better throttle response mid-range and top-end. It will also remove the limiter. The gains for the money is not too bad for a NA engine. Just for comparison, a chip for my A4, $500, gained me 25-30hp and 55-60tq. A chip paired with a exhaust system will definitely help get the most out of the engine with the re-mapped ECU.

The chip will probably be your highest gain mod for that amount of money, unless you want to put a supercharger, which is much more money. Its certainly not bad and will probably feel a better response to the car when you hit it.

..That sounds reasonable. You certainly got better bank for the buck though with your 55-60 tq! I did check on superchargers, and youre right, about 10k!
love the car, but did'nt realize how sleepy they were until I owned it. My A6 that I traded on it definately made more power and it was awd with only a 2.8

Are chip upgrades for the MBs just generally more expensive than other cars? Powrechip for my car is like 1000 dollars :\ a 500 dollar ecu upgrade would be awesome.

theres this chip tuning that was on the C32/55 amg forums, a chip exclusive from germany, cost around 270 USD and I herd that it gave a 20-30hp gain?

that gain for the C32 I would believe because of the supercharger...but the C55 is a NA engine, would be a little high gains for a chip. If thats true, its a pretty good deal for that money.

I used to have a 2002 C240 and I did get the Powerchip upgrade for 91 octane fuel.

Very noticeable increase in acceleration, especially higher in the rpm range (higher than 3000rpm). It pulled much harder all the way to redline. Now, I don't have before and after acceleration times, but my butt-dyno and even my wife noticed a big difference.

No, you're not going to catch a C32 or C55, but I think it makes the car more competitive with the supercharged C230's off the line.

$500 to chip a C320 hm? It may be possible, I'll have to see. I'm currently doing some tuning to an M271 right now that's got ASP pulleys. My car has been chipped as well by my tech (twice).

Wait so who really wants a flash done? Leave me a PM.

They don't have to be (and I speak of completely custom ECU tuning).

Jason - should've mentioned rieecha! We've chipped his C240 - now if only he could chime in . I'll be calling Lee at ASP tomorrow morning for a few C32 people - I'll hopefully be chipping Trekman's C32 after it's been installed. We've also chipped SLAM's old C32, have done a few SLK350s, CLK55s... my brothers 1.8T, B6 S4s.. man the list goes on..

..wasn't anyone around for the CarLAB chipping events last year (2)?

It's VOID to all hell! Haha.. no just kidding. A chip (the way we do it) is virtually undetectable by any dealership... or anyone for that matter.

are you using powerchip or do you have your own programming design? if the latter, what are the specs/price?
