m271 C230 Sport Sedan Oil/Filter Change
After 2 trips to the dealer for the A and B scheduled maintenance periods, I've decided to perform future maintenance myself. I've changed oil many times over the years, but never in a Benz. In fact, during my most recent trip to the dealer, I was told the front rotors needed replacing, as well as the disc pads. I purchased the rotors and discs online and did the work myself. The only additional tool I had to buy was a #18 (I think) TORX. Here are my questions:
-Because there is no dipstick on this model, is there any other way to access the oil from the top of the engine (to use a vacuum pump)?
-I looked for the filter housing from the top of the engine but can't find it. Where is it? Do you have to remove the belly pan to get to it?
-How do you reset the maintenance reminder? I've looked through all the manuals that came with the car, but all it says it "contact the dealer".
Thanks for the help.

Actually I believe the dealers suck the oil out as oppose to draining it. You can actually drain it though but we careful not to strip the pan. You can search the forum to find out how to reset it yourself. I can't remember the exact way to do it but you must do it before it reads as overdue. I know there has been multiple topics about re-setting.

Filter housing is under the plastic engine covers on top of the engine. It's a cartridge filter that goes inside the housing. There is a dipstick tube to suck the oil out of, just no dipstick. Dealers use a service dipstick to check the oil level but you can use the electronic one on the dash. You reset the maintenance reminder by pushing the reset button while displaying how many miles you have left to service.

Oil Cap
Is there a trick in loosening the oil cap on a 1.8?
For the second time I broke the cap trying to undo it. It seems to seize on and no amount of force will free it before it breaks apart with the bottom half still in the head.
Seems to me it is like a child proof cap.
Because I have never been successful in taking it off, I am assuming that it is a standard threaded cap. Maybe it is a bayonet mount? or reverse threads?
Both times it has been installed at the dealer durring the $150 oil change
