Hey guys it's my first post on this awsome site
i just have a little problem. i accidently washed my key ( yeah i know it happens to the best of us) and the infra red part of it doesn't work anymore. i can lock/unlock the car but i can't start it.
i called the dealer for a new key and they quoted me $250 CDN, and they also told me it has to be a new key since apparantley the keys can't be reprogrammed. is this true or can i just but a $20 key of ebay and get them to reprogram it?

It's about $62. They'll need your vin and proof of ownership. It takes about a week, i was suprised how fast i got it.

 

$62 for just the key, but how much does the programming cost? do u leave the car with them for the week?

 

programming is not needed, thats why you give the VIN
they pre-program the key and cut the blade to the exact specs of your car in Germany, then ship it here

 

I checked that site but it does not have a listing for smart keys, where are you getting it for under $70?

I don't know if they upped the price, if they did that sucks *****. The part numbers are posted somewhere on MBworld. Search this forum and there will be a link. It is imperative that you use these part numbers.
