My Alcantara interior

Still a work in progress, need to do the driver's seat, fake perfed vinyl on the doors, and face of the headrests. Probably the top of the center armrest while I'm at it if I can ever figure out how to take it apart without breaking it.

In addition to the Alcantara I removed the incredibly hard fibrous matting in the seats and replaced it with 1/2" medium density visco foam, and also installed some 4mm polyester breathable mesh to allow more air flow through the perforations, although the Alcantara is already very breathable. The seats are still very firm, they just have a lot more give and more of a "bucket" feel to them since the visco foam flows away from areas of high pressure, notably your ischial tuberosities ("sitting bones")

Why did I do it?

I just happen to have about 100 meters of charcoal grey perfed Alcantara hanging around, and my butt hurt pretty bad after my last long trip. Those OEM seats are EVIL. Oh yeah, it is VERY lux looking as well...

I can honestly say they were the only thing I did not like about this car.

These pix are pretty poor - taken in the dark, I'll post some new ones in daylight when the entire job is finished.

Its for the effect/pub & bragging rights. Not to mention it would look sick. But hey, you got the seats, i cant fult you for that. But i would go all the way, you have it down pat on the process. What's another 4/5 feet of that stuff. lol

I just realized I already have a stock light grey Alcantara headliner - a different fabric of course... perfed would be really wierd IMHO, not to mention a real beyotch to fabricate.

Did it myself.

I can't even IMAGINE what a shop would charge, it would be insane - there is a LOT of work involved, and if I did not plan on keeping this car for a looooong time I would never have messed with it.

I had my last new car for 13 years.

RonK, where'd you learn how to do this stuff? I've always wanted to find out how to wrap all my interior in leather and such but there's not a lot of reference out there on the internet.
