Not too much, they don't advertise it, it's just custom made to order each time for the forum. My guess is they sold about a dozen so far. Not too bad since the interest list was about 20. To keep everyone up on the latest;

ASP now makes the pulley for the older C230K sedan and SLK230 (pre-2k). There's a good pent up demand because some tuners like Kleemann charge something like $1,700 for that kit. Still $350.

I've driven my car for 4,000 trouble free miles since the ASP pulley install, still have the same fun. I just drove about 600 miles this weekend up the central coast and had fun playing tag with a CLK55. Had a late model debadged BMW 3 series coupe not keep up with me, got some stares from him.

Hey for the people who have installed the ASP pulley:

When you took off the factory pulley from the shaft did you get the watery oil/lubricant dripping out? I got some of that thing dripping out when I took off the pulley, and I thought it was just the lubricant for the pulley so I didn't do anything to it.

But when I took off the belly pan after having the new pulley for a week, the inside surface of the pan is damped by those stuff. Not a huge amount, about 1/4 of the pan surface. It felt like engine oil but I recalled about the lubrican thing dripping from the shaft. Did I break the shaft seal or something??

I'm going to take the pan off again when I get home later to see if I get more leakage.

That's engine oil, check your level to make sure you're safe. When the pulley was removed on two cars we did get a small amount of oil but not anything you would call a drip. It does sound like the front seal is leaking. If it were my car I would put the factory pulley back in and take it in and tell them it's leaking and put it back in after they fix it. I don't know what in the installation process would have cause that to leak. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank Buellwinkle. I recall I did not pry hard at all and I only pryed on the pulley so that should not break the seal.

I will take off the pan again tonight to see if it's a real leak or just the oil residual from the installation.

Also maybe some other leakage or A/C condensation. Use white paper and touch it to the wet spot (or tape it on the pan where the spot is and check to tomorrow). That way you can see the color of the liquid to see if it's coolant, condensation, power steering fluid, engine oil...

Buellwinkle,

I don't remember seeing anything on your car and my car after the installation. The moistures that you see on your car, Bullwinkle, that the WD-40 fluid that we spray on to remove the pulley !!! If you spray the WD-40 to removed the pulley, i wouldt hink that it might be able to leak through the crank seal because it thinner then oil.

Actually we had a bunch of oil there that caused us to abandon the pulley install once. It turned out the dealer kinked the gasket on the oil filter when twisting it on, made a big mess.

Crap! Where is the oil filter so that I can check for possible breakage?

The color of the leaked oil was dark brown, just like used engine oil color, but very watery (thinner than the engine oil). I removed the pan, didn't see any oil accumulation on the pan surface. But I also saw a small hole in the middle of the pan so that excessive liquid can drain out of the pan so I cannot confirm about the new leakage. I checked the engine oil level also, it was at max.

I put a cardboard underneath the car so if there is really a leak of any kind of liquid it will show!

To get to the oil filter remove the plastic cover on the front right side at the very top next to the dip stick. It just lifts off and snaps back on. The oil filter is the black cylinder to the left of the dip stick. If you are trying to trace a leak I think they sell a dye you can put in the oil and then use a black light to detect where it's leaking from.
