Climate control swap.

Anyone got a pricing guide handy? how much is 203 830 05 85 ..

see this:

A guy on the other C230 forum did this himself (he lucked out some guy wrecked his C sedan and sold him the controls for $20!)

If reasonable maybe we can get in on a group buy?

So if you got the part what would it take to put it in? How would the LED display function? It would be cool if it could be done for a cheaper price. I couldn't find anything in a search. :-( Thanks!

its easier than installing audio 10. When I was running my radar detector wiring under the dash i took the climate control thing out. It just plugs in. Pull off the dash , and they rest is pretty easy.

What about the activated charcoal filter? Where does that go?

Personally, I don't see an advantage to swapping. The analog system works fine for me. I'd do it for $20 maybe because it looks *cooler*. Not for $500 though.

Wait a second though, doesn't the Thermotronic (digital) climate control system use more sensors? The standard Thermatic system has 2 sensors, but IIRC Thermotronic is supposed to have more (according to the tech material I've read)

Hehe, well, I'm one of those youngins' that wants the cool factor. I just can't figure out how the LCD thing would work. It does seem like there would be more sensors. The controls are only like 50$ off Ebay, though. Thanks,
-Cole

Peet, I'm REALLY interested in this! Can you put me into contact with whomever you know that has done it? I have a '02 C240.

thanks!

It might look cooler to you, but from my experience, it is harder to change the temperature and control fan speed. The buttons don't always seem to work when you press them, especially if you try to change temp quickly. Although if you get one for a 2003 model, they revised it a little and it seems like the buttons press easier and actually work when you press them.

Speaking of climate control, how does the rear AC vents in the coupe function in relation to the front ones. Since its dual climate when the driver (or front pass.) increase or decrease fan speed/temp how does that affect the rear vents? Thanks.
