Advice?? Car Antenna / Aerial fly lead - splicing TMS aerial to main car aerial

Hi Everyone. I have recently purchased a garmin Nuvi 610T Sat Nav which has TMC (Traffic Management Control). This is supplied via a seperate aerial (FM) which is in effect a piece of thin black wire about 2 feet long. The reception of this aerial is rubbish (this is a well known problem in the UK due to the low transmitter power of the radio stations providing the TMC data over the RDS sub carrier). Over on the Nuvi forums in another place the users suggest feeding the TMC aerial into the car aerial. Now I can do a botch job and wrap it around the pin at the end of the MB fly lead but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution with the addition of a Y piece / splitter. I assume as they are both FM aerials there will be no problems.

any advice from people who have experience of this?

many thanks.
Paul
