RDS on my MB audio 10 radio displays text messages from the radio station on the dash and the radio display. Typically it will display something like "Now Playing, Sk8tr Boi - Avril Lavingh on KISS-FM" in between songs it can display an advertisement like "Enjoy Pepsi". It works on half the stations I listen to. It will not work on the US MB radios. Comes in handy once in a while when a new song comes out and you want to know the name and artist. Most of the time I have it turned off because it's distracting.

Wow, it really displays the song and artist info!? I thought it just sometimes displayed the station call letters. Now I REALLY can't wait till next week. There must be some Boston stations that use RDS.
Why does EVERY city have a KISS station?

Buellwinkle is lucky to live in an RDS-advanced area - FM stations around D.C. are so backwards... There are only 4 or 5 RDS-enabled ones among the whole spectrum, and none of them ever shows anything except its own 4-letter abbreviated name.

I don't think it's your area, I think it's you. My RDS only displayed call letters until the dealer did something to accept the radio. Don't know what they did but after that it showed song name and artist. Before that is mostly showed call letters and an occasional artist.

Right, that's me... Like I'm responsible for FM stations in D.C. being so boring and playing the same 10 songs over and over for years...
Sounds strange, though. You are saying that yours did diplay "an occasional artist". I have yet to spot this. But, I'll have them register it during the next visit. Hope you are right.

Test drive a Jag X-Type, it has RDS and that's how I found out I was missing something. So you're the one responsible for the bad radio in DC. You probably have the same radio stations the rest of the country has with different call letters and local news.

I had a Landrover Discovery II loaner from my Volvo dealer a year and a half ago, and it had RDS. Station names - yes (well, the same 5), artists & songs - no... Just an observation - don't mean to start an argument, as I said, shall have them register it, then we'll see.
