tranny problem

I believe I am having some tranny issues. What is the most common issue for tranny? A weird thing i noticed is that my tranny issue goes away if I put my gear in "w" oppose to "S".

anyways here is my problem, I think my 3rd gear maybe slipping, whenever I floor the car, my car will not shift into 4th. It feels as if I hit a rev limiter or something then my cars check engine light will turn on and then putt around. Lose all power mostly

One of mechanic from Dealer said that it could be failure with the "electronic plate" for transmission, which controls everything about shifting and linkage to engine. But honestly, I have no idea about this "electronic plate" thing, or how much it will cost to replace it. So, hopefully someone else can help us figure what damage this "electronic plate" will do?

Have you taken your car to any service mechanic?

Have you done any service with your transmission? e.g. replace O-ring, drain & replace transmission fluid. (depending on your mileage)

A SPARK PLug? wtf?
Weird!!!

Nice to know it was something simple.

So the check engine light was just a misfire.
Yup had this problem twice.
2nd time I replaced the other 3 coil packs.

I hate to hijack this thread somewhat, but has anyone had a jerking problem between 1st and 2nd on their 5-speed automatics? It only occurs when you slow to almost a complete stop, then decide to keep going (say, the light has changed or you've slowed for a turn) and it jerks twice, as if it's confused whether it should drop to 1st or continue to 2nd. I'm sure it's just a design flaw, but I'm curious if others have it, or there's a transmission software update as a solution, or I should be trying to get Mercedes to replace the tranny before something serious occurs.

I was told my "electronic plate/board" went bad which controls my transmission.
A mechanic hooked up my car to BIG MB computer (not those hand-held units) at the dealer, and electronic board & control module for transmission has error code P2xxx. Cannot check temperature for transmission, so it is using a default temperature value to determine when to shift up and shift down.

I have not done the repair yet. I have not heard any other people replace this board.
