Oil level and dipstick questions
So, I took my 07 C230 in for the 1st complimentary service, and had a few issues for my dealer to look at. One of them was the oil is overfull. I checked it on the dipstick ~5-10 minutes after shutting off a hot engine, just like the owner's manual instructs. It was almost to the top of the plastic piece attached to the end of the dipstick (a little less then about 1/4" ABOVE the max line.
So my service advisor told me that the dipsticks are inaccurate and as long as you don't get an oil overfull or underfull warning on the MFD, the oil level is just fine.
I put the car in "dyno mode" to check the oil level, but it does not display oil level on my 07. I get the SW version, VIN, and battery voltage, etc, but no oil level.
Can anyone confirm there is in fact an overfull or underfull warning on my 07? Also, if the dipsticks were really inaccurate, why did they start using them for 06-up cars, and took out the oil level display? Since my dealer thinks it is fine, and doesn't want to do anything about it, is there any reason I can't just suck some out of the oil filter canister with a turkey baster?

So I am still going to battle with my dealership over this issue. It is really frustrating that I can't get them to cooperate. Is anyone able to answer my question about whether the car is equipped with a level sensor that reports overfill?

The vehicle has a specified acceptable oil level range. The dealership has the oil level tool. Stop in, ask the acceptable range and have 'em measure it. In the range, your good. Out of range, have 'em fix it.
