I have a dilema, 05 c230 or 06 c230 V6
I am new here and I don't know if this subject has come up before, so I apologise if it has. I have 2 c230s and 2005 & 2006 both on lease expiring 6 months apart. I will most likely keep 1 at the lease end but I keep flip flopping as to which one to keep. this is how they stack up:
2005 black on black 6 speed with sunroof
2006 Granite on light grey 6 speed with no sunroof. all the other options are the same between them.
the paln is to keep 1 & to modify it.
here are the pros & Cons to each
06 has a nice V6 more Hp than the 05 but less TQ, & engine sounds great.
05 more TQ than 06 and better on Gas, but the engine sound. not so nice.
05 is 150lbs lighter than the 2006,
06 is nicer on the highway 210km/h was a breeze
05 has more after market mods available & they cost less than what I have seen for the V6
06 has newer and better technology & I may be able extract more HP from the V6 than the I4, but at what cost.
Any advice or insight would be great including suggested mods thanks

Mod for power, mod for looks or mod for both? If "mod for power" is included in your answer, how much are you wanting to gain and how much are you ready to pay?

06 c230 v6 SS
i think the v6 can become faster, kleemann has already produced headers for this, exhaust is always available, u can get evo sport pullies for all v6 and speed innovations has ecu software for 20/25hp and tq gains. with all those mods i think that itll pull nicely, it jus all depends on how much u wanna spend. cause if cost isnt an issue, u can blow that v6 and run heavy.
IMO, i like my v6 over the kompressor, styling is the same, but i think the v6 can have a beefier motor in the long run, plus its still new, the kompressor has been out since late 03-04, i drove the 05 and it didnt impress me stock for stock, my v6 feels nicer to me.
plus, the v6 sounds way nicer IMO
if u get a v6 jus get the 6 spd, and it wont even have to compare.

thanks for the input. to answer some of your questions. I have thought of getting rid of both cars and going the C32 AMG route but that would mean getting a car 2004 or older plus a good C32 would be about 8k more than my current lease payout, be twice as much to insure and harder on GAS. both of which are expensive were I live. Plus I love having a manual trans. The c32 is heavy, with a good suspension kit either of my cars would handle better than a C32 or C55.
I would likely cap my self to 6 to 8k for all the mods. all performance not cosmetic.
Good rims and rubber (not too heavy)
H&R springs
C32/C55 AMG brakes. used if I can find.
headers
pulleys
chip
S/C if not too costly for the V6
Resonator Delete (for the sound only) dose anyone know anyone who has done this?
looks like people are leaning towards the V6. That is how I feel today but yesterday I liked the I4. I am doing a 5 hour drive from Montreal to Toronto t in the I4 tonight.
I will see how I feel after that
thanks for the help keep in coming if you have more info.

witht that much invested go with the v6, u can do headers/pullies/filters/exhaust/ecu tune for about 4k, and get up to about 250-260hp, but if u jus get a kleeman sc, ull be pushin a lot more.

9 seconds to 60, yeah. That's C240 and Prius territory. Ditch both cars, buy a used C32 or just keep the 05. Lot better on gas, faster and a little lighter in the turns.
