Trunk Lid Paint Chipping/Rusting BAD

On the bottom ledge of my trunk lid, the paint is peeling away in small pieces, it's gotten worse over time and it's reached the point where even touch-up paint doesn't help. As you can see in the picture, the piece on the right is about to peel off and I'm going to be left with a large rusted portion of a trunk. I'm not familiar with body shops or whatever, but is there anything that they could do for my trunk to make it look normal?

You can see it also in your signature, right under the license plate, correct? I rarely find any bodyshops that deal with rust. gl

i talked to my tech about it and after looking at it, he told me that its because water is getting behind the piece that holds the plate and is building up behind the paint job, pushing the paint out.

In my car, whenever it rains and I open the trunk, water drips from one of the pastic clamp holes or something, and drips right into the trunk or on my head if I forget about it

still.. I dont see how water will get behind the paint. Take off the license plate holder and take a look behind there.

hey kev, dunno if this helps but my trunk is also beggining to bubble around the groove where the rubber seal for the trunk touches the metal. I figure its due to the trunk seal not pressing tight enough up against the metal and then the water gets trapped between rubber and metal and thats what causes the rust forming. My solution has been to keep a rag in the trunk and when it rains just wipe the area dry. Anyways thats my case, maybe it applies to you as well - good luck
