Help me choose!

Today i went to the local motorsport shop and asked them about lowering. I basically narrowed it down to two sets.

1)H&R cup kit (Good cuz its lower)
2)Blisteins shocks w/ H&R springs. (He recommended this one)

Advantages & disadvantages??

He said either set would run about $850 with installation. Seems like alot....OPINIONS????

Ask yourself a question.....why do you want to lower your car? Is it because of "performance" or "look"? Which is more important to you?

Hmmmm...i figured the lower it is, the worst the ride. But then again, lowering it in gerneral will make the ride worst. So im still not sure whut the difference with # 1 OR 2 WILL be performance wise. ie. Is the cup kit better than the BILSTEIN combo with out including the Lower drop factor?

Harris: Didnt u say in another thread that bilstein makes the shocks in the H&R cup kit? In that case, isnt it wiser for me to just get the cup kit?

I think that the question is still unanswered: what do you want:

1. The lowest possible ride height
2. The best performance

Cup kit will give you #1, springs/bilstiens will give you #2.

Have you considered Eibach springs? They are different than H&R's in that you may not have to replace the shocks, although they lower and stiffen the ride less than H&R's.

Hmmmm....tha clears up alot. I guess i cant get the best of both worlds. But why does the springs/bilstiens give me better performance. Is it only cuz of the ride height? If it is only cuz of the ride height, then i might just go with the cup kit.

I just sold my cup kit. Yup, as far as I know, the shocks from the cup kit is made by Bilstein, but so as my OE AMG shocks!!

I think if I HAVE to choose one between the two, I will choose the cup kit because those are "matched" shocks and springs.

The cup kit will definitely give you a more aggressive look. See my car on the C32 pic thread, page 1. But I dont think the performance of the cup kit will be anything less than the Bilstein/H&R combo. I know the Koni adjustable shocks are coming out VERY soon, maybe you should hang on a bit longer. A Koni adjustable + H&R will not be a bad combo too.

Mind you, the Bilstein+H&R combo is far from the best combo available. It all comes down to the price tag. If you can spare $2000, get the Kleemann speed sensitive suspension. Now you are talking "best" performance. :p

I dont think $850 installed is bad. Usually labor cost about $200-300.

Thanks for all your help guys. Im leaning towards the cup kit just to simplyfy things. I havent heard anything bad about it yet. BTW Harris, your car looks great. Ill try to lower the 850 by barganing or at least by shopping around more. Thanks again.

Feel free to continue opinions for im pretty sure there are still alot of confused members out there.

Also, $2000 is a little too much. Thats what the coilovers are going for right?
