C230, Check Engine Light On, Need Help!
Hi,
I own a 2002 C230 Kompressor Coupe. Just before I had my B Service done a few weeks ago, my check engine light came on. My mechanic performed all the B Service maintenance and pulled the codes. He received codes PO243, and PO410. Apparently the codes are related to the supercharger? He cleared the codes for now, test drove the car and said that it felt OK and recommended that I drive the car and report back to him if the check engine light comes on again. Well, I have driven it about 400 miles since the service (running great) and the check engine light came on again...
I'm going to have the codes pulled again next week, my question is can someone shed some light as to what the problem and resolution might be? I'm also interested in whether or not the car is still OK to drive until I have this issue resolved.
TIA,
- Bruno

P0243 Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid A Malfunction
P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
243 is Charge pressure to low...
there's a Star Bulletin about making sure there's no obstruction in the intake.
How's you're air filter?
Spend the 60 bucks and get the DVD manual from 1800mercedes.
It talks about both these codes to some degree.
0410 references a bunch of thing that might be the cause...
But mainly it appears to be a result of input from one of the O2 sensors.
So could be a bad 02 sensor?
Fault setting conditions-Increase in the lambda controlling factor of at least +23% approx. 10 seconds
Check prerequisites - Engine at idle speed
- Vehicle stationary
- Air pump activated at least once after engine start
- No fault on voltage supply to purge control valve, air pump switchover valve and electric air pump
- No fault in purge system
- No fault in throttle valve actuator
- No misfiring
- No fault in O2 sensor upstream of TWC, aging
- No fault in CAN data bus
- Self-adaptation of the mixture formation not at limit
- Air pressure more than around 780 hPa (i.e. no test is performed above a height
of around 2500 m)
- Coolant temperature at start -10°C to +45°C
- Lambda control enabled
- AC off.
7 Checking procedure On starting the causal chain, all functions for self-regulation of mixtur
P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction

Thanks for the response.
I had the mechanic pull the code for check engine on Tuesday and this time it was only PO243. I'm going to bring it in next week for them to work on it. Hopefully this won't be an expensive repair...
I'll post what the resolution is if anyone is interested...

I too just got code P0243, Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate solenoid.
So I'm going to look into this.
For you guys that had this, any chance your work receipt mentions what was changed?
I have gotten the fault three times now.
