Do all cars have the REST function or only those with THERMOTRONIC?

REST depends on year and model. simply a marketing decision: early E320s
came with them, then ceased, then resurfaced, then no longer. so....

How about spraying some Febreeze in the air intakes for the A/C?

Where is this located exactly? Is it the same across all the w203 models?

I sprayed Lysol all up in my fresh air intake when the AC was running and that seemed to help the problem. Anyone know why the recirculating mode shuts it self off and doesn't stay on? Also, why does it automatically come on the fresh air mode? I always turn in on the recirculation mode because i figure that its probably about 100 degrees in the car and about 125 under the hood.

could the smell be coming from a moldy/damp underhood insulation? Just an idea as some people still seem to be getting the smell even after 'treating' their a/c system with a deodorizer? Could be that the insulation ferments as the car is left standing then when the a/c is turned on the system starts with the air under the hood and after a few seconds the smell goes away as the air coming through is from outside of the car? Just a thought!? Might warrant a spraying of the hood insulation with some febreeze/lysol etc

i've had same problem once in a while...
there's a spray you apply on the vents at the top of the hood...
it will instantly remove odor when u turn on AC...

Hey everyone...I have the stinky AC as well but it's something I can live with. I just want to double check if one thing is normal. Even after driving the car around for an hour without the A/C, when I turn it on it blows hot air for 2 minutes then it blows cold air. Is this normal because on all other cars I have had experiences with...it's cold air right away. This may seem like a dumb question but I just wanted to make sure before I go in for a A/C recharge or some sort of relevant service.

When I turn on the A/C in my CLK, it blows hot air for about a min, then becomes cold. Seems normal.

I have the same problem, turn on the A/C and for 15 or so seconds, smelly stale mouldy smell is in everyones face, I originally thought of the pollen filter, the place that its in (right over the battery) isn't exactly a good idea, I thought maybe its gotten damp, I gave it a spray and after 2 days it was back to stinking, I think we might just have to replace the filter quite often if we don't like the smell

A company called Wurth makes a good A/C cleaner, which works kind of like a "bug bomb" and cleans out the compressors and everything. wurthusa.com.

Now my AC is doing this funky thing where either the left or right vents (but never both at the same time) will blow warm air, but if I turn it off and back on it's fine. I'm gonna push to get the whole damn AC replaced, but doubt they'll do a darn thing.

I'd assume my CPO warranty covers the AC as well? It's gonna be at least 5 weeks before I can go anywhere for more than 1 day (and that's my obligatory 1 weekend day off).

Mercedes-Benz, USA LLC just lost an appeal this month and has to pay a California woman $ 20,000. plus costs for a stinky AC on her 2004 W203.

They had the stones to argue that if the car moved from point to point, they had no further warranty liability.

The jury in Los Angeles called
