OR find a small black rubber cover of some sort and cover the wedge bulb that will not melt and your good !
I finally had my red bull now i can think ! yeah that is the safest way to achieve what your trying to do. and not worry about wiring.
That too. Just leave the bulb plugged in and remove the wire and light from the socket. Tape it off or some sort Outta the way, and there you have it !

I can tell you from experience that there is plenty of space to leave the bulbs in and tie them back. I had euro impact strips and no messages.

why dont you just take the wire with the bulb and let it hang out from the sidemarkers. push the bulb out and just let it hang from the wire
just like i did.. simple as that
