2001-2004 models don't need to be on the temperature screen to get into dyno mode. I did it the other day.
In fact, I kinda remember the 2005+ models having a different procedure to get into dyno mode (not 100% positive, since I never had to deal with the possibility of a "new" method).

Turn it to the mileage screen (which is the same as the temperature/digital mph screen, since you have to scroll through that screen to get to the temp./digital mph).
Basic steps are turn to position 2 and immediately press (don't hold) reset button 3 times. Timing is important because if you wait too long after you turn to position 2, it won't work. Sometimes it takes several attempts.

dont get me wrong, it DOES sound stupid to say funner, but its not gramatically atrocious...its still debatable. there are many more solid things to make fun of revhard for...i mean just look at everything he's posted.

I got warned about a power steering failure when fooling around with dyno mode by another W203 owner in Seattle, and so I haven't messed with it.
But typing it, it sounds like BS to me. Why would the power steering have anything to do with the TCS and ABS?
You guys heard anything like that, or is he just pulling my leg.

when ppl try to do a burn out in these cars they actually crank the wheel one way and do a bake stand to bake the rear tires loose and then keep doing donuts, when u do that a lot what ends up happening is that the staring wheels starts grinding because ur holding it in the lock position and the ESP cant grab it and it will suck in the mesh net in the staring wheel pump and u loose power staring. i have see it happen its really hard to explain.
but if u just do a drake strip that wont happen. it only when u crank the wheel one side and hold it there.

I was just trying to make sense of all this because of the history of the different models and there being some discrepencies on dyno mode.
If you had read through the forums, you would've seen that. You've only been here for a minute, so I suggest you start reading posts before you call people out.
And like Stormin said, I was responding to the fact that he puts the car in dyno mode through the temperature screen. That's all.
