200k
Hi,
I was checking out the 200k and the 240... Apparently they have almost the same performance except the 240 has around 7 more hp.. and the 200k has lower fuel consumption..
Besides from that they have same torque, etc et..
What do you think about that??
Is the 200k a better buy??

Nahh, I'd say I prefer the supercharged I4. Lower fuel consumption and easy to tune with a little help from a new crank-pulley. Sure - it's a little rough sounding, but you won't hear much of the engine anyway.

I would always choose the 4 cylinder supercharged model. I am a little choked that it's not available in Canada (yet?).
The C 200 K is nearly as powerful/fast as the C 240, consumes 33% less fuel and pollutes a lot less (CO2-wise). It's a no-brainer really. The new 163 HP 1.8L inline-4 engine should be as smooth as the 90 degree V6 in the C 240 - both are inherently unbalanced designs, and both have counter-rotating balance shafts to smooth them out.

Europe/Australia will get all supercharged 4 cylinder engines with the same engine capacity but different level of tuning....so if I have to do it again I'll take the C180 Kompressor and save the money to buy more upgrades
heres the article of C class engines...

I live in panama.. I am thinking of getting the sedan.. The 200k I think.. is it really 163 hp?? I thought the 240 was 170 and the 200k was 163.. and the 1.8k was 143..
By the way. what's the difference b/w the 2002 engine and the 2003??
Here it is much harder decision!! we get the 180k, 200k, 240, 320 and c32...

The 2002 C180 and C200K-engine was a 2-litre engine where the C180 was natrually aspirated and the C200K was supercharged. From 2003 all 4-cylinders for the C-class are the new 1.8-liter engine (only with different electronic engine mapping). So the C180K and the C200K (and even the C230K sport coupé) has the same 1.8 litre engine block.
In Europe (and probably in Panama as well) the C180K has 143 hp, the C200K has 163, the C240 170, the C320 218 and the C32 354.

I am thinking of putting on a pulley for my C200K (2002) and have been looking at the Kleemann set. Did your set come with just the crank shaft pulley or did it come with the underdrive pulleys as well?
Cheers

Like Jet said…I’ve got significant gains after installing the ring pulley and quite happy with the result so far . I’m not sure what is included in a set, I got a ring pulley, alternator pulley, 1 belt, 2 side badges and 1 rear badge.
