Gauge Cluster

Will the 05-07 Gauge Cluster work in a 04 car? I have a friend that wrecked his 05 (dumbass) and is offering to give me some of the stuff I like...

Not without A LOT of additional internals being changed. 2005+ based on MOST system (completely different from 2001-2004.5 system).

PM Sunman (Sunil@motorwerks) and ask him what needs to be pulled from your friends car in order for it to work. He is one of the sponsors on here and the only one (not sure if Steve has done it) to do it.

w209 cluster, but that's d2b and there are still heavy modifications necessary.

steve and I both have clk clusters in our cars. I upgraded to the MOST system. He has the d2b system. The 05 and later C clusters are all MOST and will not work properly in the car.

Reread what the user asked. It clearly states "would any other cluster work in the 02 c230 without as much work?"

I interpret that as any other cluster, other than what was discussed above (i.e. w209 or 2005+w203). So my answer was correct, thanks.

Ok, well who knows if he was talking about the d2b cluster, because he asked about the 05+. The CLK cluster installs MUCH easier than the 05-07 cluster that he asked about, so yes, there is a cluster that installs much easier. It is the d2b CLK cluster. I have one in my car.

Here are some photos. In the first photo, the top picture is the stock C32 AMG cluster, and the bottom is 05-07 cluster that you asked about. The second picture is the CLK powered up. Ignore the Pioneer text, it was the only photo of the powered cluster that I had on this computer.

I think that the CLK cluster is the best looking of the three.

My site has pics of the clk cluster in the c class. Coupes are not applicable due to the different dash shape.

Also, you can not install a used cluster (>1000mi on the odo) into another vehicle.

The second one in the first picture? No, you can't upgrade to that one without completely converting the car. If you want the CLK cluster (the second picture), you need to purchase a new cluster and have Sunil install it. It still is not a bolt on, and reprogramming is necessary.

Good i kinda like the second pic Cluster better its the E-Class style around how much do they run and i wonder how much will Sunil or steve charge to reprogram it.
