Thanks for the link Bullwinkle.

Is there a way to do this without ripping out the dash?

You shouldn't have any problem using the ipod with the AUX jack. There is an ipod for PC's, but you need Firewire. ipod

There is a tiny pin type switch on the front of the headunit. Push it in and use a dab of glue or maybe silcone caulk to hold it in.

I'm using my iPod (Windows version) through my Aux port. The sound is good, but the bass is missing to some degree. I'm not sure if this is due to the Aux port or the iPod. I still think the convenience of having my entire music collection w/ me on road trips is well worth it. I would still recommend this setup.

Make sure you get the latest iPod firmware update. It seems, to me at least, that the EQ stuff got turned up a notch in the latest firmware.

If you don't know what I'm talking about - then you're really missing the latest stuff. They added EQ (under settings) as of two updates ago.

Hope this helps!

P.

P.S. I found that dance setting is about the best overall EQ - bass booster muddles the highs.

That's how I have mine set up, but I bought an adapter with a wire thin enough to close the door. It beeped for a bit, but hasn't complained since the first week that I had it set up. I think maybe it gets used to it...

Has anyone ever tried this transmitter from myirock! ? It looks pretty cool but there's always a catch. I found out about it on Apples site of all places.

"but leaving the cassette door open causes the stereo to beep ever 5 seconds does anyone know how to over ride this???? "

There is an area of the cassette deck, bottom left corner, that is open and the wire will fit without setting off the beep.

Sometimes you have to do again but it fits and you do not need to yank the wire to get the cassette door open.

Since I have the changer I rarely use the cassette & MP3 combo, but when I do it is really easy, once you know where to stick the cable.

The cable is a standard stereo eighth inch jack.
