warranty expires next week... anything i should check?
my 2003 manual c-coupe losses its 4-year warranty next week and i was wondering what i should look out for to make sure things are fixed.
i read that the air conditioning directions stop responding properly and that the instrument cluster LCD fades in some cars, but mine seems to be fine. anything else i should be aware of for one final visit paid for by the dealership?
thanks!

Smyth is lazy, doesn't do much...
but when I was in Sac, they found all kinds of stuff...
very cool. Complain about anything and everything.

not sure what/where to look exactly. however, for hoses, simply feel em out. you should be able to tall. kinda like feeling fruit.

I still have sun-fade on my cluster. Just to explain, the top portion of the menu screen has a fade line at the top of the screen whenever the cluster is exposed to excess sunlight. Basically, during sunny days (which is a lot of the time in L.A.), I can't see the P on the gear indicator or the CD# on the cd screen and whatever normally shows up on the top of that menu screen. Only when it's sunny, so I'm assuming that the dealership was never able to duplicate it, since the car is normally inside majority of the time.
That being said, I'm getting this done at my Service B in 2,000 miles. Since they've already tried to fix it twice, hopefully 3rd time is a charm. Also gonna see if they can try to fix the sub-woofer rattle.
If you're good with your Service Advisor, you can always ask him if they'll replace all the rubber hoses/lines with new ones and also check the plastic reservoirs for any leaks. Have them replace any linings that look beaten up, any missing clips replaced, electrical imperfections, etc...

my service advisor is a no-nonsense kind of guy. so i'm not sure what he'll say if i ask to replace the hoses and linings that look beaten up, but it doesn't hurt to try. thanks!

Things I would have checked:
- first have them pull all TSB's that have affected your CL203 chassis build numbers, and review each one over again. Just because it wasn't broken when the TSB was issued, doesn't mean the problem didn't creep up later.
- manual transmission / manual transmission = ALL components.
- have them check the pano-roof thoroughly. Check the rails for rust. Have them give it a good cleaning, and ensure it's properly lubricated.
- check for contamination in the cooling lines / radiator.
- ensure all electrical / electronics are working properly.
- check for bushing wear & tear, end links and suspension rubber.
- any engine components, that can lead to catastrophic engine failure in years to come.

sorry if this is a dumb question... but what does TSB stand for?
and what does "brushing" refer to?

TSB = Technical Service Bulletins.
Some people have access to them, if they subscribe to some Mercedes-Benz Service Subscription thing. Basically, they are MB's version of "recalls" or "production line fixes" that they've identified. Most of the time it is transparent to the owner that a fix has been performed on their car, unless they specifically ask. What happens is that you go in for Service A or B, and they check to see if your VIN # / Chassis applies to a particular TSB and they perform the "fix". Some dealers are really good about this, some suck.
Bushing, not "brushing". Those are the rubber parts that sit in the brackets holding the sway bars. Most dealerships will say that is a normal wear & tear item, and won't replace them under warranty, but some have acknowledged that rubber is not the best material design for that particular part, and will agree to replace them at no cost. If you mention it tell them it's a manufacturing defect based on the poor material construction. It can lead to other broken and damaged parts if not replaced.

my passenger side
mirror quit tilting back when i put the gear in reverse it's a part of convinience feature. Also my last SA told me to bring the car in a week before my warranty expire that they will do an inspection and will flush the break fluid. I don't know how good is that word because they assigned me different SA. let see all they can say is NO. I only have 36K miles and 4K more miles before my next B service I tried to put more miles but it didn't happen.
