It sounded like Terry was just tired of maintaining and paying for a site that was had such little activity. Even after many requests, he was unwilling to allow someone else to take over.

Ricky,
while on the subject of cleaning up the forums,
can we clean up the TITLING for the W203 link from this:
C-Class (W203) (xx Viewing)
2001-2007: C 200 CDI, C 220 CDI, C 270 CDI, C 180, C 180K, C 200 CGI, C 200 K, C 240, C 320, C 230K C-Coupe
to this:
C-Class (W203/CL203/S203) (xx Viewing)
2001-2007: C180, C180K, C200 CDI, C200 CGI, C200K, C220 CDI, C230, C230K, C240, C270 CDI, C280, C320, C350
This puts the Sedan (W203) & Coupe (CL203) & Wagon (S203) models together, rather than just implying that the Coupe only came in the C230K mode or as a stand-alone model. And it removes the stigma that the W203 forum falls under "SEDANS".
Also, creates uniformity with the other class nomenclatures by putting the letter and numbers together without a space between them.
And finally, updates the 2007 C-Class run with the C230/C280/C350 line-up.
Thanks !

I would never call a C32 sedan a taxi. Unless of course you actually had the European Taxi configuration which was available for the W203. but joking aside, my first memories of Mercedes-Benz were riding on MB taxis in the early 1970's. I loved those red leather back seats !
See you on the 21st my friend !!

Like someone said earlier, the most trafficked forums are the C, E, and AMG forums, aside from the OFF TOPIC section.
Hopefully, people will see how easier it is to browse and find stuff when things are arranged methodically and in proper nomenclature. And then request that their forum also be fixed/cleaned up to effect the same result.

Although i have not visited that forum in a long time, it is sad to see it go. I do not know the story, but it is very weird to see it close.

Yes, but I will leave that to either the MODERATORS or to owners of those other Classes to make the recommendation.

And to address what we've been waiting for:
http://vraa.ihatemyisp.net
Currently it is in a very beta stage and I'm looking for those who can help contribute to it. I think it'll serve as a very good reference guide in addition to MBWorld. I would like all references and sources to be pointed back to MBWorld threads if at all possible. I will begin adding to the MBWorld Wiki

Wow that's such a bad move if Terry doesn't release the database. If he doesn't want to continue it, at least let someone else have the chance.

Has anyone asked Terry, and if so, what's his position on the topic? I assume he has been seeking sponsorship/support for some time and not gotten what he needed, maybe he just thinks no one is willing to do the work, or that someone who takes it over will burn out... I would like to see the information saved -- it was really good stuff.

It's his choice, and he has more experience with these things than I. Perhaps he will change his mind in the future...

Maybe in time some solution can be figured out.
It's the content / information that is so useful.
I don't think anyone is trying to usurp or discredit the tons of work that Terry put into that site. It will always be remembered as the C-Coupe friendly site, and somethings don't last forever, but to throw all that good technical data into oblivion makes no sense either.
I've always hoped that the W203 forum here on MBWorld would have made an early sub-forum for the CL203, but as years have now gone by, it would be impossible to sort out all the Coupe-only threads from the W203 forum.
Let's hope the pics, DIYs, tech data, and all other valuable info works its way back somehow !

well, about 1/3 of it is here on MBWorld, and then when people got banned and pushed over to C-SportCoupe.com most of the technical know-how and knowledge base for the C-Coupe went with it. MBKlasse evolved that concept and some, if not most of C-SportCoupe.com flowed into MBKlasse.
Since then MBWorld has kept about half of the C-Class knowledge base and MBKlasse and a few disparate other sites have the other half. It would be great to get them all back on here, where it's all searchable and compiled in one place.
Ricky (super MODERATOR extraordinaire
) has some really good WIKI type ideas coming to MBWorld, so the utility and searchability of old information can be easily and efficiently executed.

Vraa,
I applaud your efforts to get a 203 Wiki going. I checked out your link and it looks great so far. I think this will definitely help all of us if we kept all the info, DIY's, etc in one location, and my vote goes to yours vraa (as well as the info we have here on mbworld).
As a side note....what started out as a "I wonder what day of the month (beginning/middle/end) my W203 SS was built (the month and year are 04/05)" has turned into something bigger. For awhile, I've been keeping a spreadsheet of W203 VIN's, as well as colors/interiors, and what options came on the car. I started out with only 2005 W203's, but now have every year. The vast majority of the VIN's are from the W203 sedans, but I do have some wagons, and will be starting on the coupes really soon.
Where do I get all my info from? Mostly ebay. I search for C Class vehicles for sale, and go into each listing. Nearly all of them have a lot of pics, so, using the pics, I have a great eye at noticing what options are on the car (heated seats, COMAND, Standard climate control vs the auto, power seats, sunroof, folding seats, etc). From there, I have a spreadsheet where I'll put in the entire VIN, all the options that came with the car, based on what I can tell from the pics, as well as the month/year the car was built, if they happened to take a pic of the VIN plate on the door (which also tells me what the color code of the car is.
I have been meaning to post a topic asking if people could PM me or e-mail me their VIN's as well as their color, interior, options, date of manufacture, etc. I don't believe this is asking for too much private info, as most of this is available online (carfax, etc). Plus, we'd have one big spreadsheet with all the VIN's, options, colors, manufacture dates and locations, etc. I've learned a lot from putting this together, including locations where our C's were made (Sindelfingen, Bremen, or Brazil), when the cars starting coming out with the Ceramiclear clearcoat, when certain model years starting being produced, etc.
So, here goes....if anyone would like to send me this info, I would gladly appreciate it. I'll add it to my spreadsheet, and then eventually post it. Here's what I would like:
Model: ex: C230 sedan, C240 4-matic, C320 Sport, etc.
VIN: on winshield base or plate on driver's door
Production Date: month/year (on VIN plate on door)
Color Code: (on VIN plate on door), ex: C359, C040, 040, etc.
Interior Color: ex: Ash, Black, Oyster, Tan, etc.
Full power seats: driver only, driver and pass, none
Transmission: auto or manual
Packages: Lighting (bi-xenon w/ headlight washers), Entertainment (H/K system), Sunroof, etc.
Individual options: SOS, split-folding seats, heated seats, COMAND, CD Changer, etc
Climate control: standard (non-digital) or auto (digital)
I don't think I missed anything, but if I did, please pass it along to me.
Please keep to what the car originally came with. So, for example, if you added COMAND or Bi-xenons to your car, but it didn't come with it originally, don't add it in. I'd like to keep track of how each car came from the factory.
I know the earlier model years (01, 02, 03) the cars' options were set up differently than later on.
This way, we'll have a great database of how our cars were produced, and be able to check out trends as to when certain colors were used, etc. For example, I noticed that around August of 2001, a group of cars were built as C32's. Many of production #'s: WDBRF*****F175174 thru F190564 were C32's. Also, certain later VIN's with production numbers F714*** were 2006 models, yet others with later F719*** were still 2005's.
Feel free to PM me, or e-mail me at cintoman@***.net
Thanks, and sorry for being Off-Topic

I disagree, though technically I suppose I can't be right.
I saw that because, "HIS" choice as what to do with "HIS" content.
Yes, each time we posted the content became "his".
But as pointed out, there was so much chatter here, so little actual technical discussion, and suddenly it became the place to be for serious discussion.
It never occurred to me that the knowledge imparted, would just be discarded without a thought as to the people who worked hard to create a database of useful info, and to help Terry have a viable website and community, taking time to help people.
Since it was never a money making venture, it didn't seem likely that
site would be taken down. Nor did it seem likely an owner would spend 80 grand on a car and then sell it for peanuts.
But it did happen. It is EXTREMELY selfish of terry to just shut the doors, and kick us all out, keeping OUR content (yes technically his) and instead of making it available, just chucking it.
We did what we did in the spirit of sharing, and caring, helping other owners. That whole Karmic thing...hell I scanned some stuff for a member here the other day and emailed it...yeh it took up some of my time.
I was happy to do it. But it never ever occurred to me, when I was taking pics, posting them, writing the DIY's that the
person who actually owned the site would just toss MY hard work in the trash.
So, I guess that makes it MBTrash....or MBKrasse?
I DO need to get that damn sticker off the car.
Yeh, I'm a little miffed.
I won't be spending toooo much time writing DIY's etc. in the future,
and if I do, it would likely be here, since this is the most likely place to still be around in the future.
BUT as pointed out, all the chatter makes it hard to find anything, like all the recent posts on how the c class sucks or whatever, by idiots who
manage to get good people here to post and take up time and space for nothing of worth. Not to say their weren't idiots there either.
In the end, it was his lack of interest, and being soured on his C Class that made him go. But he should have turned it over to someone.
Jerk.
Ryan, nice job on your new forum.
But I have to say, I'm not feeling the vibe, not wanting to rewrite every
damn thing I ever wrote for the sake of mostly the same people who were here or there...sorry, not directed at you.
It looks nice.

The ideas on your site are good, but you could of just asked Ricky to add those features on this site, and helped him develop them. You would of gotten the credit. It just seems like all the DIYs and technical posts for the C-Class are going to be linked back to MBWorld, because I'm sure as not going to re-write or move all the pictures to another site, when it's all already here. To me it's now just one more www site I have to go check and it wastes my time.
