Technically for the front, you need a special MB tool to take the top of the strut "cap/hat" off. It costs about $42 at the dealer. I will have one for sale in 2 weeks for $25 shipped. Most people don't buy it, and just use a vise grip instead. Check one of the stickies, there is a DIY for Tein coilovers, but it'll give you all the pictures and info you need for any spring install.

Also, most people who tried to use the hook type spring compressor couldn't get enough compression on the front spring to remove the top strut hat/cap. Best thing to do is remove both the front struts, safely leave your car on jackstands, and take it to a strut/shock shop where they have a wall mounted spring compressor, and have them change out the springs for you real quick.

I only changed the springs on my front, so I can't help you on the rear.

Props for helping out a bro. Remember though, no good deed goes unpunished.

Spring hat retaining nut tool is #203 589 00 07 00.

"Bif Powell" over on the C32/55 forum has a swell thread on front spring installation with good pictures. It's worth searching for before you get involved with the task.

Credit to rlee02135 for this pic.-
