Drive in Comfort or Sport mode with SPRINTBOOSTER
I just ordered a sprint booster BDD451A and am wondering whether I should drive in sport/comfort mode when in use. I understand the Sprint booster makes the engine work harder, throttle response is more sensitive and revs the RPM faster/higher with a slight tap. However, I also understand that Comfort starts at 2nd gear while Sport launches in 1st gear. I hear LAUNCHING a car from 2nd gear, isn't exactly good for the engine, as it is more strainious on the engine. I usually drive in comfort mode as not only is it less jerky, but also the ride seems to be much smoother and less harsh than sport. Just wanted any opinions, also, post if you have sprint booster, please post some prior experience(s). Thank you!

I just installed mine recently. I've tried both S and C. IMO, it's how you step on the gas. Currently, I have it in S. If I step on the gas hard, the car will just fly, but if I just tap it easy, the car rides just fine.

W/S = Wet/Standard conditions
W = Launches the car in second gear so that there is more control in wet/snow conditions
S = Standard like all normal cars starts in first gear.
Other than that I don't think there is much difference between W and S modes when it comes to ride comfort. It doesn't change the suspension settings, so harsh handling of S mode is just a perception.
No experience with Sprint Booseter. what is it anyway?

I keep it in W for a bunch of related reasons:
1) Gas mileage. I have a heavy foot so this improve my mileage by 20-25%.
2) Smoother ride. 400+ hp as daily driver can be a pain in traffic or after a long day of work.
Give it a try for yourself. With only the click of a button, you can have two different driving experiences. The bottom line: it's a cool gadget for our cars.

hmmm... are you sure that the W/S button on a ordinary C class is the same as the one on an AMG? I bet other things change when you press that little button in an AMG, things which don't even exist in a C230.
Anyway, in W mode, I have to revv the engine past 2000 RPM to climb even the smallest incline like my drive way. I S mode though, it climbs without giving any gas.

You should actually get better gas mileage with the vehicle in 'S' mode. Try this - when coming up to a stop sign at a low speed, say 20~25 mph, try coasting (i.e. foot off gas) in 'W', then try in 'S'. You should notice that in 'S' the car coasts more easily. 'W' not only launches the car in 2nd gear, it also does something to lock the tranny tighter to the engine (maybe something to do with the torque converter). This is why it doesn't coast as easily, and why you don't have to put your foot on the gas for the car not to roll down a hill. Try this too, when sitting on a moderately steep hill facing up the hill, start in 'W' mode and take your foot off the gas. Car should stay where it is. Now, push the button to put it in 'S' mode. Car should start rolling backwards. Push the button again and it will stop. This is actually one of the features of 'W' mode, I believe it is in the manual. But the penalty you pay for this much more control is a hit in the gas mileage. I went through several tankfuls in my C230 on 'W' mode, and got ~19-20 mpg around town. In 'S' mode, I regularly get 23~24 mpg around town. Just my observations, YMMV ...
