Angry Best Loaner Vehicle Ever!

So.... I thought my coupey into service for a long list of "repairs", but thats now the point.

ANYWAYS, at the loaner dept today, there were 3 C280 sedans, a Pewter/Black, Blue/Oyster, Black/Beige.

I apparently wanted the Pewter one, because I'm used to the black interiors. but no...they gave me the black with beige.

First of all...I got onto the car, and the car was dirty as hell. the seats were more like yellow than beige, steering wheel was disgusting. center console was oily/dirty/disgusting. So, I'm like w/e.....I'll clean it when I get home (I'll be driving this thing for a few days).

On the way home, I got on the highway, and BOOM, out of nowhere, the car stalls/jerks like something exploded or rear ended me. RIGHT WHEN I GOT ONTO THE FREAKING HIGHWAY! next thing you know, engine died, CEL came on, RPM Stalled at 1500rpm. I had to pull onto the freakin shoulder and call the loaner dept. I shut off the car, turned it back on, CEL is still there, and the car is now on LIMP HOME MODE. you cant pass 2000rpm, it jerks like a biznitch, cant drive pass 2nd gear either.

I have a long journey back to the dealers today, so they can exchange it for another car.

I love this freakin loaner. I just want to...kick it.

Today was the first day a guy with a corolla passed me and grilled me down for driving slow.

Limp mode is great. you get to see all the trees, birds, scenic views, check engine lights, cars, ladies

maybe this CEL/Limp Mode is also known as checkin out ladies mode.

I think I got you beat with a Corolla I got once. I didn't go to the place where I got my car but somewhere else and apparently the excuse of sorry but all out good cars are unavailable are used a lot. But I'm not complaining, a loaner is a loaner.

MB-Manhattan.

Worst. I think the Loaner Dept Guy gives me the **** cars. I had a arguement with him once. for those who remember, the problem with a freakin rim.

I just got back from bringing the stupid loaner to the dealer. That car was so....so annoying.

What I found out, car got out of "LIMP MODE" but...

1. Car cannot pass 2000rpm otherwise it will stall.
2. After 2000ish RPM, the car slips, runs neutral, then comes a HUGE JERK.
3. Car cannot exceed 45ish mph. otherwise it will jerk like hell.
4. Car handels like a box. seems like it will tip over any min.

atleast now they gave me a working dirty silver/black one. (dirty meaning interior and exterior, I actually waited 30mins watching the "AMG VIDEOS" while they *ahem* cleaned it) but it was still dirty as hell.

i went to the dealer here in San Diego yesterday to buy some TeleAid/Road Assist buttons for my center arm-rest console, and needed a VIN# of a C-Class that had those. All the ones they had on the CPO lot were ex-loaners. I couldn't believe they were selling 2005-2006 C-classes for under $20k. None of them had TeleAid of course, and the insides smelled like crap.
Why would someone buy an ex-loaner car ????

THE C350
well the first time i took in my c320 while i was on vacation in ga they gave my mom (i am under 21 so i cant get a rental but i still drive it once we are off the lot) a c230 that had 20000 miles on it but was scrached up really bad pulled to the right really bad and smelled like a cat lived in it. when i drove it back to the dealer to get my car i told them that they should clean it out and i watched them give the key to some other customer and they drove away without even cleaning it or looking at it. lol and one time my dad took his c32 amg in and they gave him a kia sedona lol he was pissed but atlest the dealer we go to now has a hole lot of c280 4matics they are pretty fun to drive in the rain

hahaha,

I can say, the best loaners I have gotten was the following.

2005 C230k SS (first ones to actually drive it, had about 100 miles!)
2005 G35x (most fun loaner ever!)
2005 Volvo S40 (it was pretty cool)

worst one I have ever gotten. 2004 Chevy Impala.

It happened to me once...

Halfway home with my rental C240, and the CEL comes on. I just laughed, turned around, and got another from the dealer.

I was laughing while reading your story. I can def relate, similar thing happened to me today, got on highway, CEL went on. Accelerated like the car had 50hp and weighed 3000 pounds (1980 minivans were passing me and honking).

Later found out it was a throttle sensor issue.

Scary thing to happen when your 18 and driving home and your car dies down on you for the first time and you're 20 miles away from home at someplace you're not supposed to be

People looking to get a car for cheap, remaining factory warranty AND CPO after the factory warranty, 1 year or up to 100k miles (total). Good way to get into a MB, BMW or Audi (as they usually all sell their loaners as CPO after they've accumulated some miles) for a fraction of the cost and covered for a while for repairs, etc.

Dang man, that sucks!

I would be so pissed...who was the loaner company? (If you don't mind telling)

I JUST turned my car in yesterday afternoon to have them check out my transmission and sun roof (again)...however I'm only 19 so they will not give me a loaner, but they said they would pay for me to have a rental from Enterprise, so I took that, but because I'm not the primary policy holder they claim they could not rent to me...only my parents. EVEN THOUGH the car is in my name and the car is under that same policy and I AM an "Authorized Driver"...how lame is that??!?

The car can be in your name but if you're only an authorized driver for that car, that means you can only drive that car and any other vehicle you're authorized to. Say if you drove one of your parents car and you're not authorized to, god forbid if anything happens, insurance can deny claim. If you were driving your own car, then it'd be covered because thats the vehicle you're authorized to drive and have insured.

If you hop into that loaner car and get into an accident, your insurance would probably deny the claim because you were unauthorized to drive that vehicle and not listed in the list of "authorized" vehicles to drive and cover. Once you get your own policy, you can drive whatever car you want and be covered under your policy.

Also most rental places don't rent to people under 25 and if they do, they assess a ridiculous surcharge per day to cover that.

THE C350
well one of our c280 4matics we got we put about 1200 miles on because my dad had to go away for business so we took the loner. when we returned it they didint look at the car so we left and on the way home got a phone call saying that they wanted like 500 for wear and tear on the car so we told them that if they built a more reliable car then we wouldent have to drove their car on a business trip that prety much shut them up and now we try to put as much miles on the lonars as possible. i once drove one to school every day lol that was fun those 4 matics can slide around parking lots pretty well lol i think i destroyed the tires on that one lol

well 4matics dont have ESP.

well i feel special that im actually getting good car. i have three loaner

1. E320W (comfort at its finest for a loaner) i drove it like a **** 6.8 MPG
2. 2007 c230 (i love the V6 sound)
3. 2007 c350 (power baby)

well they are pretty clean and although the brakes are wrapped even though they are under 20k miles. pretty clean even though they are loaner and you can choose what kind of car you like as long as its available
