new c320 owner

I just got a 2001 C320 2 weeks ago. I'm extremely happy with the condition, mileage (55,000) and service history. I've done some searching and have not been able to really understand some issues yet. I don't have an owner's manual, although all the other sundrie documents were in the user manual package. Previous owner who owned the vehicle for 2 years never had one and any issues he had were handled by EAS in Waltham Mass, a service shop specializing in Mercedes. I can't seem to get the "summer opening" feature to work. I did a search and learned bits and pieces of what my be causing the problem, but found no simple solution. I tried to synchronize my windows and sunroof, thinking that was the issue, but that didn't change things. Someone who had a 2000 CLK showed me his, and it seemed very simple. The "easy entry/exit" feature will be my next feature to tackle. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Mike

Welcome! Beg, borrow or steal an operator's manual. ~400 pages of good stuff!

Not sure about the "summer opening" deal. Can you elaborate?

summer opening

I bought a manual on Ebay, should be here tomorrow. The summer opening, as I understand it, is when you unlock your doors and then continue to hold the open button and the all the windows and sunroof open, presumable to cool the car down in hot weather prior to entry.

if you're talking about opening the windows with the key before you get in the car, this feature does not work via RF, but IR instead.

You need to point the end of the key at the little black sqare on your door handle and hold it, your windows will go down after a couple seconds.

summer opening

I tried that with no success. I even tried it 3 feet away thinking that there was a maximum distance away from the IR eye for that to work.

thanks,
Mike

hhhmm - that's odd. mine acts up sometimes too. I usually have to hit it once to unlock, then press and hold a second time to make the windows go down.

btw - welcome to the forum!

Did you try it from both sides? At first, mine worked from both sides and now it only works from the passenger side.

summer opening

I was pretty sure I tried that, but just went out and tried it to make sure. No success from either side. This feature is not a "deal breaker" in terms of my initial infatuation with the car, but as most on this forum, I subscribe to the concept that if it was designed to do something, no matter how inconsequential, it should work.

new C320

Dark blue (don't know the color name) with "Dove grey" (think that's what I heard it called) interior. It got 17 inch aftermarket wheels with pirelli tires. Nice looking in my eyes at least.

Just communicating with "cool kids", never mind being one, is exciting enough.

My daughter wanted to take the "new" car around the block and I explained how I should be able to make the windows go down and the roof open with the remote, and when I showed her how it didn't work, it worked perfectly. I did nothing differently, and definitely nothing since my last post when it wouldn't work.
