02 c240 avic-d3 help

So I try to install the avic-d3 today and could not get it to work. I follow the thread from https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...hlight=avic-d3 . I only time it works is when i connect the two battery and the two 12 volts together but then it stays on when the car is off. I do not have the Bose system in my car but do have an extra harness laying around that says amp on it. Do i have to bypass anything to get the h/u to turn on?

Reread the AVIC install thread. You have to swap the yellow and red 12V wires. If you have any additional questions, ask them in the existing thread rather than creating a new one.

you have the 12v constant (yellow) and 12v switched (red) wrong...(on the avic)

switch them...

or you dont have the correct 12v switched wire (like the cig lighter tap)

you need to tap a valid switched 12 v source.. .in my particular case (c32) I had to tap the cig lighter as the car does not have a 12v switched wire in the harness. If you do this, find the right wire, then trace it behind the headunit and tap there. It is a hell of a lot easier than trying to get around the gearshift to the cig from the headunit.

p.s. the wires to the cig lighter are run to the left of the gearshift.

not off hand...there should be 3 or 4 wires there....the cig are the 2 larger ones (smaller are illumination)

I am thinking black/yellow maybe?

test with a multimeter if not sure
