I am new to the Mercedes benz site . I was wondering if the Hatch-Backs are worth buying? We have a SLK 230 Kom. and a 97 230 and I always thought that the 230 hatch was kinda kool but neve really heard anything about them. I know how americans never bought them same with the 318it's because we love our SUV's, but just give me some idea of things to look for when checking one out or if I should turn the other cheek and look else where.

Well let me give you my opinion about hatchbacks....... because i have one.lol Well i love this car first and foremost. first mercedes that i own. even though its not pushing that much HP, im willing to try to make it a little bit faster and also to make it look different than others. Alot of people has different opinion about this car such as they have an ugly back, but thats other people. I love the unique style of the car that other hatchbacks dont have. First it doesn't look like other square hatchback, second one of the fastest 4-cyl. engine i know, three it has a pano roof ....

 

lol i wish M111 is really the fastest 4Cylinder engine

or are you talking about as all the stock car with 4 Cylinder??

 

I would recommend a C320 Sports Coupe if you can find one. They're not common. That's what we have. It's not slow in my estimation.

 

The reason I wanted to get the hatch back is because they have the komp engine, so I see a lot of hp comming outa that bad boy. . It would be a lot easier to turbo that car then a stock engine.

 

hatchbacks are cool, theres a owner on here that previously owned a sedan and changed into the coupe. like HKevinF said, I also recommend a C320 Sport Coupe, you get a V6 and is probably more "Mod friendly" than the C230.

 

Same chassis as the sedan, 5ft of cargo area...as much as most small crossovers, but more fun, and up to 30 mpg. Back seat comfy for anyone under 6ft. Front is good for up to 6.5" ft, and you can pick one up waaaaay cheap. Whats not to love? Well you already have benz, and 2.3 m111 so you know the downs, same as any benz these days, due to complexity.

 

The C230 Sedan also has the same 1.8 Komp. engine that the C230 Coupe has.

The 1.8 Kompressor does not have a lot of horsepower. It's good decent power, but it's not a "bad boy". Also, you cannot turbo the 1.8 Kompressor motor. You can upgrade the supercharger pulley for a minimal gain.

If you want horsepower and a coupe, get the C320 Coupe as other's have said.

C230 Coupe 0-60 (auto) 7.5 sec. (189 HP)
C230 Sedan 0-60 (auto) 7.8 sec. (189 HP)
C320 Coupe 0-60 (auto) 6.9 sec. (215 HP)

 

i'm a bit biased, but if you can find one, get the C320 Coupe, or go to Canada and get a C350 Coupe.

But if you're obsessed with the KOMPRESSOR badging, then for the Coupe, try to get the M111 2.3L vice M271 1.8L, that way you can do more engine mods, without selling the house.

dam, C350 coupe is right! If they sold it here, I woulda really traded in my 320 coupe for a 6 speed

 

LOL i know that would be great ...but im talking about in general
