You should get a Prius. haha 60mpg, so thats only 2 gallons a day!

I have a 2005 excellent condition with 30k miles and KBB.com trade in value is $18,700. You're definitely getting low balled.

I would ignore this price of $16K for a trade-in value. It is not representative of the market, but merely of the buying situation. It seems like you are trading a car that is worth more than the car your are buying. A dealer will not do that, so thus the low offer; it puts money back into the deal.

Good thing you are smart enough to go elsewhere. Your best approach maybe to sell the C230 yourself and buy the Accord separately.

since he is just dealing with a c230- i would venture a guess, that equally equipped, they would be close to the same sticker price- plus he's looking to buy a new accord, not used. those are pretty nice cars- then add some options- and you are over $30k- just as in a c230.

not really sure. a guy i work with was trying to buy one a few months back and they didn't want to come off the price much. around here- they were selling them about as fast as they came in. he ended up buying a TL they would come off the sticker price of those- so he figured for about the same price- why not get one

only problem with the acura is the engine choice- the TL only offers the 3.5L or 3.2L (i don't remember which). your gas mileage reasoning behind getting rid of the benz goes right out the window. my 2.5L V6 get's better gas mileage than my friend's TL.

isn't there a 4cyl or small 6 offered in the accord?

FWIW it really sounds to me like you should pass on this entire deal. They are offering you very little for your nice MB, and they will want top dollar for the new Honda Accord (which is in high demand). This is NOT a good deal. It sounds to me like it is cheaper to keep the Mercedes.

One additional factor. A nice Mercedes will always attract members of the opposite sex better than a Honda Accord.

A girl asked me once what I did for a living to be driving a Benz. haha. If she only knew how much I paid for it.

the C230 body style is unique compared to the new body Accord which resembles the Saturn sedans.

You have to log in and "watch this item"
When the auction ends, you'll know what price was paid.

I've done this and 9 out of 10 times the car never sold b/c it never hit the reserve price. So the prices you see usually aren't sold prices even if the auction ended.

ASKING IF YOU PAID TOO MUCH AFTER YOU BOUGHT MAY NOT BE SUCH A GOOD IDEA. If you got ripped off, you'd rather not know. Having said that....

...the price depends on a few factors that sometimes people may have forgotten:

1. Tire condition ($400-900)
2. Brake wear condition ($300 to replace rotors/pads if you DIY)
3. Body work repair (windshield with sensor costs $499 minimum)
4. Oil change ($125 at dealer)

Here's my list:

Purchased car for $17,000
Repairs: Please note that prices I paid listed are often times discounted due to me looking up the cheapest of the cheap or getting it through friends. Expect to pay more for market rates.
1. Windshield ($499)
2. Fog light ($115)
3. Repair hood ($400)
4. Repair rear bumper ($300)
5. New tires ($415)
6. Installation/balance tires ($50)
7. Alignment ($125)
8. Tax ($1,400)
9. DMV Registration ($125)

TOTAL REPAIRS: $3,429
TOAL COST: $17,000 + $3429 = $20,429

i bought my car at carmax too for around 24k (it was close to 20k before everything). sometimes i feel like i got jipped, but when i realized all the repairs i had to do, i feel like it was justified. within the first month i had over 2k worth of repairs done, all covered by the 3year 36k miles warranty (they also gave me a loaner each and every time). when summer comes, off to carmax again to get all the problems fixed, and it will only cost me 50$ (and hopefully a loaner. i got a maxima last time and it was sweeeet!)

carmax people are great, and they definitely have great customer service. plus, they fix anything you want them too, if it falls under their warranty list.
