My car has a little normal road rash on the front end but other than that its perfectly fine other than having a little high milage (100,000mi). Anyway, the MB dealers first offer was $5,000 for my trade in. I've looked on edmunds and kbb and the going trade in value says $9,000. Looking on Autobytel.com there are a couple in the area for sale but they have 60,000mi and are selling for around $16,000. I'm wondering if I should call the dealer and say give me $9,000 and it's a deal?

So for this thread anyone that has gotten an offer or has traded in a C class in the last 6-12 mo please post your #'s

i went to the dealer to trade in my c230k coupe 2005 for the 350ZNismo and they offerd me 20,000 for my coupe with 37,000 miles fully loaded BEST condition and the Nimso was going for 40,000.. good deal but i changed my mind i love my coupe so im gonna keep it and ship it to Greece in afew months. and im thinking of getting the new Evo X or the 3.2
audi TT s package.

Hey C230 05,
I really love your car. That's a 6-speed manual right?
Where in NY are you?

Used W203...

I'm considering to buy certified w203 (C230 or C240?), because I want to wait one or two years for the new features of w204. But I heard that w203s have a lot of electrical problems.. Is it true?
What is the estimated price of a certified 2005+ with low mileage..?
Found a black C230 with 8k miles for $27.000.. MB of South Atlanta. I thinking that the price would be no more than $25.000

Any suggestions? Thanks guys..

What year is that c230 you found for $27k? Are you looking for the 4 cyl supercharged engine, or the v6? The supercharged engine is available on c230's up until 2005. 2006 changed to a v6. The 2005's have a very nice interior, and AMG body kit.

I have an '03 c230 Sedan, 6 speed manual. Yeah, it does have some electrical problems. But I love the car.

Electrical Issues: For instance, I have a sunroof issue. A few times my sunroof wouldn't go all the way back. Turning off the car, then turning it back on fixed it. Also, when the temperature drops a LOT I do get some electrical issues, but I've found this to happen to other (different) cars as well.

P.S. I almost bought a c240. This was when I had very limited knowledge of Mercedes, especially the C class. The c240 has a v6, with 168hp. The 2003-2005 c230 has a supercharged 4cyl , with 189 hp. Depends on what you want out of your car...

It is 2007. All the car that I found are c230. Which one is better and cheaper, the supercharged or V6? I also have no clue about w203. Do the electrical problems' also happen with higher year w203 (2005+ or 2006+) ?

^^

w203: These are C class cars from 2001-2007. 2008 began with the new w204's.

The 2006's V6 is 201 hp, 181 lb torque, while the 2003-2005's SC 4 is 189 hp, 192 lb torque. Not a huge difference, but I've heard that in the real world it is faster...

As far as the electrical problems, I'm not sure which year has worse problems. But even Mercedes' from other classes have electrical issues.

Are you looking for an automatic or manual transmission?

Yeah, It doesnt matter whether it is V6 or SC, as long as it is cheaper.
I prefer automatic..

Ah ok. If you want cheaper go with a c230 from 2003-2005. You will probably like the interior styling of the 2005 better, but look at each and compare prices.
Good thing about the automatic tranmission is that it's adaptive. It adapts to the drivers style. If you stomp on the pedal a lot, it will learn that, and the throttle will be more responsive.

no electrical issues here; althought I've heard that MB are among the least reliable luxury cars.

If you really want to buy cheap, you need to look at all the numbers, gas, insurance, repairs, possible upgrades... If you really want to buy cheap, cought up the extra bucks to buy a nice car to make sure you stay away from expensive repairs. There are probably cheaper luxury cars to own than a mercedes, but if you like MB then go for it!

SC is probably cheaper on gas. I get about 18l/100km city and 8.5l/100km highway (120-130km/h); possibly cheaper on insurance as well. Repairs? No idea.

what you are saying is that the 2005-2007's interior's different than 2003-2004? what's the difference?

here are some pics. the 2003 pic is kinda small, sorry.

and I agree with m a t h i e u. Look at insurance costs etc. If you can get the car cheaper, you can have extra $$ for repairs, mods, gas, milk, etc...lol...

most all of the electrical problems you hear about are from the pre-facelift W203's. most of the issues were fixed by the 2005 model year. 2005+ is the way to go- issues are, they received clear lights, and some amg body and suspension parts.

03 g35 coupe...........02 c32 Sold
i just bought a c32 amg last month. Mechanically the car is well built. The electrics seem to need more work. Only problem i had so far with the car are the seat control modules. its a common problem among the c-class.

I posted a diy on the c32 sub forums to fix the problem.

If your a diy, then it shouldn't be a problem, if not i would recommend extended warranty.

My driver's side seat control also went out on my car. It stopped working the first day I picked up the car. Good thing I had adjusted it to my liking...Now I have a permanent "gangsta lean"...lol

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
The W203 started with the 2001 year model and ran through the 2007 year model. In general, the quality improved as the years progressed; the 2001 models seemed to be the most problem-prone.

The V-6 C230 models were tuned a bit more for luxury. Quieter exhaust and slightly softer suspension. This engine was offered in 2006-2007.

The supercharged C230k models were tuned a bit more for sport. Sport exhaust and sport suspension are the norm here. The 2004.5 and 2005 models were generally considered the best of this series. These supercharged versions have a little more power (real world) and use less fuel than the V-6 versions. A manual transmission makes it a lot of fun.

I would drive an example of each of the above two styles, and see which one is more to your liking.
