This is one of those projects that is so basic that if you have no idea what you are in for you might not want to try it. We are talking one step up from doing a brake job. There are two mounting bushings and two end ties, thats four bolts and four nuts. You are removing and replacing one part with the same thing but thicker.

Sure, one would think but MB made two different part number bushings for the 2002 C32. Which one is correct?

Wouldn't one be for the larger front bar and the other for the smaller rear bar? The dealer should know what bar goes with which bushing.

When I order the rear sway bar, the dealer told me I need a new bushing already. You don't even need the part#, the sway bar and the bushings shows as a package in their computer.

No, for the rear torsion bar their computer showed two different bushings depending on VIN. I chose the earlier style since my car is an earlier 2002 model.

I have heard this story for the Richmond MB part department also, they said there are two part # for the C32 bushing. They need a VIN # to get the right one.

I got my C32 rear sway bar installed. Thanks to Kw230 for all the great help. The handling a different than the stock C230K, less understeer, and the car is more willing to turn into corners. The rear have a tendency to slide out a bit while I accelerate in the corners. I recommend this upgrade for anyone who wants better handling in their C230K.

I just got the Evosport sway bars on my car today. It feels much better. I like how responsive the car feels. I havent gone crazy with it yet but so far so good. Feels great on high speed turns.

What are the specs of the evosport sways? I'm still hanging out for the Eibach's but they may take awhile. I can't wait to get rid of the lateral movement.

so the eibach should be the best because they're the thickest right? What are the compensations from changing the sway bars besides better response?

eason, I've got a question for you.

You said the rear has a tendency to slide out a bit. Do you think you would recommend waiting until after winter. I definitely want to do it, but I wonder if I should just hold out till spring when I can enjoy it a little more. Also, I'm taking off my C7 wheels soon for some 16" for winter, so I'll probably be handling worse anyway for winter.

I think it's a good idea to install it after winter if there will be snow in your area. The tendency to slide out happens in fast tight corner while you full throttle in the middle of the turn. With the stock sway bar, the car will understeer and ESP will comes on to slow the car down. With the C32 sway bar, the front can easily enter the turn. KW230 said he shaved 1 sec off his lap time in a 40sec autocross course. I am still waiting to try it out in the rain.

Arghhh, I went to install the new AMG rear sway bar and it's the same exact size as the old one (13.2mm). The bushings look about 16mm so the dealer messed up. MB of Laguna Niguel has the absolute most clueless parts department I've ever seen. It must be the people that didn't have the aptitude to work for DMV or Jack in the Box. They spent an hour yesterday trying to figure out how to get into the parts room because nobody had the key. They have a phone number on the receipt that automatically fowards to an answering machine saying they're closed, all day long. Calling them parts monkeys would be an insult to monkeys all around the world.

That sucks! I hate it when people in the parts dept are clueless and dont know anything. Its so frustrating. Your experience sounds worse than anything ive gone through.

OK, went back to the dealer and gave them the part number that someone posted earlier. Surprisingly it shows 4 seperate part numbers for the sway bar depending on the VIN. Hopefully I'll get the 16mm version on Wednesday. At least I have the correct 16mm bushings.

How's the C32 AMG sway bars compared to the Eibachs or Evosport ones?

Also, where can I get the Eibachs?
