i hear all this stuff about "moleskins" for w203 windows.
can someone explain what that is, or better yet post pics of it,
i cant seem to find any good tint places in ft lauderdale area, any recomendations for shops and which tint to get or brands, thanks

you could have searched the forum and found the official tint thread...
but moleskin is a layer of felt applied to the rubber seals that 'squeeze' up against your window, causing scratches in the tint when dust or dirt particles get between the seal and the window. with moleskin applied, dust and dirt particles are somewhat absorbed by the moleskin and does not scratch the tint.

I was told the samething by my tint shop. Sounds like a bunch of sales pitch to upsell you on something not needed. I looked at the seal myself, just rolled one of the window all the way down. The shop guy was saying once the rubber seal harden it could scratch therefore a felt liner (moleskin) should be applied. Well, I say if your rubber seal is harden to a point that it actually scratches then you probably have other problems to worry about. Chances are the car got to be pretty damn old for the rubber seal to do that..

The first time i put my tints it was scratched really bad. It looked like a cat has been scratching my windows. I got it redone 1 month ago and they put a velvet strip. Im not sure if its moleskin or not though
but my tints aren't getting scratched anymore!

its not the actual rubber seal that scratches the tint...its dust and dirt particles trapped between the seal and the tint...

On my car they used the loop side of the velcro, and so far, no scratches!
