Car won't start! SRS error? Any shop recommendations in So.CA?
Hi guys,
So I stop at a gas station yesterday and try to start my car, but it doesn't start and I get a SRS malfuction. I try a few more times and everytime I attempt to start the car the engine doesn't turn on and the dash just blinks.
My question is do any of you know any reputable shops in Orange County you can refer me to? My car is out of warranty and I do not want to get ripped off at the dealer.
The funny thing is after I had my car towed to my house, the key doesn't work with the car now either. I know the battery isn't dead because I had that checked prior to towing. Also the malfunction is gone but the car still doesn't start. I am truely puzzled.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Edit: Car is 2002 c240. I manually unlocked the doors today and when I try to start the car I hear clicking sounds and the cluster just blinks a few times.

Try putting something in your sig regarding the year and model of your car if you expect an intelligent answer.
My 1st guess would've be the battery, but I have no idea how old your car is. And how did they check it? Was it tested under load? Or just for voltage?

if the car doesn't even turn it might be the ignition switch. Mine went bad and had to be replaced. The part is a little over $100 if I remember correctly. The dealer will order your correct part based on your VIN#.
Anyone else have thoughts of what it might be?
Only other thing i can think of is a bad CPS (crankshaft position sensor) But the car will usually start up when it's cold then when temp goes up it will not allow you to start up again until it cools down.

Glad it was only the battery!
Yeah for some reason the cells go bad in the Mercedes batteries. I've been through 2 since I got my car. Free replacements through warranty of course. Next time I get a battery I'm getting a Optima red top battery.
