I found out this past week that MBUSA no longer wants the new M1 5W40 ESP product used in gas cars. It's still approved for diesels, however.
They're suggesting people revert to the M1 0W40 (found at Walmart, etc.) for the time being. I guess there's an issue with the ethanol fuels and the 229.51 spec.

5W40 a no-no for gassers?

I guess I'll hear about that when and if my C300 ever arrives. Turns out that 5W40 is about $1 more per quart than 0W40 in my area anyway.
Another thing is that at least the 3.0 engine is a flex-fuel engine meaning E85 can be used although I don't know why anyone would, considering the downside.

Fleece
<<I checked out the fleece filters from some of the sites including the one mentioned below. All I can find is fleece filters for the 06's not the 05's. I have the long skinny filter now. Could I switch to the shorter fleece filter? Or can someone point me to the right direction.>>
Why not go the dealer parts counter and ask to see what's they are selling for your car? Note the part number on the box and leave. They don't care.
I do know that my '01 C320 M112 v6 uses the same paper filter as a friend's '99 CLK430 V-8, for what that's worth.

I did that already. In fact the parts guy even opened the box for me showing me the yellow paper filter. I don't get it. I finally spoke with a tech at MB and he ordered the fleece filters. I'll get the part # for everyone as soon as I get it.
