2007 C230 ipod issues, help please :)
Hi all, I am new and have been searching all over the net to find some help on this. I have also used the search option here and didnt find exactly what I am looking for.
I have the DLO FM transmitter cradle that worked just fine on my 3 series BMW. I traded that car in for my '07 C230 and the DLO transmitter sucks. There is a ton of background static. In addition, when the cradle moves the right speaker goes out.
I called the dealership to get a quote on the ipod integration kit and they said it would cost $900. No thanks!
I drive a lot, and I can't go back to CDs. I read that finding an aux input behind the door panel hasn't been too successful for 07s. Besides that I am not too technically savvy to even attempt this. Can anyone offer any suggestions how to hook up my ipod? I am not against FM transmitters if I can find one that will not have back ground static.

Check with your local Audio Shops, nowdays most local or national brand name audio shop offer IPOD intergration at far far less dollars then dealer. All IPOD intergration is a plug in wire into the head unit. It's just the wire routing part takes sometime to be worked. I would imagine it would cost $200 at most audio places. My suggestion is take you time find a shop you feel comfort with, if they treat you with respect and answers your questions professionally then do it. A good shop should be able to tell you exactly what needs to happen. In my 07 C230, there is already a space next to the glove compartment CD changer for the IPOD, if you have the same space let the Audio Shop know that's where you want it. Good luck!

If you want the same kit that the dealership sells, then check with mbenznl.com and see when he's coming back to LA to do an install. His price for the kit and install is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the $900 you were quoted and he is one of the best in the business.
