auto transmission problem?
now the problem is occurring more and more often, and it's not like i've changed my shifting style. i KNOW it's in park, i just can't remove the key. also, now the shifter makes a chunky clicking sound when i put it into park; it's not a smooth shift like the other gears.
any ideas?
I say you better get it checked out before it becomes a bigger problem.
My friends Honda Accord had similar problem and they had to replace to whole transmission - covered by warranty.
it's covered under warranty but i'm sure the repair will take forever.

over the past couple of weeks i've had an issue with the auto tranny in my coupe. when i park it, i place the shifter into park and try to remove my key, only to find out the key won't come out. i have to put the car back into gear and back into park before i can remove the key.

No it isn't.
Yesterday, I accidentally shut down our C240 with the trans in Reverse instead of Park - my first clue to the mistake was that the car wouldn't let go of the key ["why are you fighting me about this?"]. There is an electronic diddly that has to be engaged when the lever is moved to Park - this is probably intermittently failing on the car in question. Leaping to the conclusion that a new transmission is in order is, shall we say, getting a bit ahead of the game...let the dealer do his job...my wagering is that this is a simple problem to fix.
