C230 broken inside door handle
This is my first post but I've been reading as much as I can from this forum since I got my C230 last November (see pic, it seems like that's the first response to any "new car" thread). Well, the driver door handle has broken on the inside (see pics). I've seen other threads about a separated door handle, but it appears that mine is just cracked. Can I just throw some glue in there, or would that prevent access to the inside of the door if needed in the future? Any ideas?

I replaced a grab handle once and it was pretty cheap. Do it right and replace it vs. re-attaching with glue.

Sorry I can't post a link, but do a little searching and you'll find some DIY write-ups on fixing this. This is a somewhat common problem. It's happenned to my front passenger inside door handle too. I've got the parts sitting here, along with a couple DIY write-ups I found in this forum - just need to make the time to install. I'd also get some nylon pry tools (got mine from Summit Racing) to help not mess up the trim when taking things apart.
You DO NOT want to glue anything. There is a plastic screw knob that screws into the back of the part of the handle which is coming out of the door. That is what secures the handle to the door. Either that screw piece or the part of the handle that it screws into is borken. If you try to glue, you'll be glueing things together that aren't supposed to be.

yep mine broke too! one day when I was pulling on it, it just came out.
I just glued it w/ some crazy glue, any super glue will do.
Replacing the whole part is just not worth it.
The trick is clamping that handle while u wait for the glue to dry...I came up w/ a contraption out of ordinary tools, some books and a set of dumbells to press the handle firm against the door.
Hasn't broken on me yet.

I was like, what the hell? How are you getting into the car and just be braking ish!... I hear this is a common problem. Mine was fixed under warranty, but you don't need to replace the entire thing, just the handle.
Part number for passenger side is 203 810 16 51 7213 for orion grey (ash) inerior. Not sure what the part number is for other colors, but you can always search for it in the collision/interior trim/pull handle area of duval or oempartsdirect. Only $24 bucks at Duval + shipping cost OR if you're under warranty, it should be covered.

Thanks for all of different responses. Yeah, "somehow" it happened when my wife had the car. I didn't realize that this was the same problem as the separated door handle on other parts of the forum, thanks for not hitting me with the STFF. Thanks for the websites Drexappeal (not under warranty anymore), I'm looking on oempartsdirect now.

Mine broke too, 2006 C230.
Simply pulled the door shut from the drivers side and snap, off it came.
I bought the car 4 months ago and I called the dealership (Lokey Motor Co. Tampa Florida). He said it would take 4-6weeks for delivers and that it WAS covered under warranty. so i am assuming that once it comes in, they go put it in free of charge. ill keep you guys updated.

C230 COUPE 2003 M271
i broke that doing the door lock fix on my coupe. got a direct replacement from the dealer for 65$ cdn and im glad i did because the new one looks so much better than the old worn out one. the drivers side takes a lot of abuse so i would think that glueing it back on would eventually break again.
edit: they did have to order it from germany but that didnt cost anything extra just took more time.

Mine did the same exact thing on the passenger side. Had no clue until my cousin sat in the passenger seat, went to close the door and his reaction was classic, "wtf happened to your handle?"

Are you sure about that color? I ordered the same one (my interior is "118 ash leather inserts") and the "orion grey" color has much more blue in it than my handles / interior. The part came sealed in the original MB box from the dealer, so the only other possibility is that MB put the wrong color part in the box. The color code is no where on the door handle itself, only the part #. I still can't figure out what color code I should have ordered...

Ok....I thought getting them would be the hard part but now realizing I have to remove the entire door panel makes me a bit nervous I'm thinking it's time for a new thread unless anyone can point me in the right direction??

i used this to do it http://www.installuniversity.com/mb/...placement.html was simple to do and so much smarter than glueing when the part is so cheap.
