SL 55 AMG or Slk?

Ok I want to buy one of these cars in the next week or so, I love smaller cars and had 4 slks already(old body) I want to try to keep the car awhile, hence the hard decision for me , I am going to drive both this week, my son wants the SLK but love the lines of the SL......there are a few of each out there....any advice????

although the SL isn't a large car, it's quite heavy. If you're looking for something small and nimble, the SLK will probably be better. SL is in a different league as far as luxury and price is concerned and can be priced all the way up to the 180K range.

2019 C300 Wagon; '75 Triumph TR6; previous: 2004 C230 6spd sold after 17 years of driving
slightly difference in cost to say the least

SLK = 'a wannabe/chick car' (except the SLK55)
SL = 'the real thing'
(neither are true sportscars)

SLR = 'the ultimate drive'

I have had all the top end ultimate drives including a vanquish, lingerfelter vette and a F50, so I am looking for a small hard top conv. that will last me away

"Double Stuff" SOLD | Nor*Cals "Pesky Audi"
3200lbs to 4200

sl has more presitge, but if you're lookin for a better handling, light on tis feet type of car, go with slk. and since the debate is between an AMG sl, why not go with a slk55?

probably didn't have one on hand. It's a SLK with a 5.5L V8 tuned to 355hp.

http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=SLK55

if you get one, make sure you get it with the "030" package.

i agree with the SLR is the boss but an SL is a true sports car my friend's dad just traded in his ferreri 360 spyder for a AMG SL forgot which model but he likes it more b/c he can drive it everyday and its quiet and comfortable but if you want to speed it'll do it with class

Might also consider the maintenance cost. An SL55 will cost more in the long run to maintain than an SLK350/55.
