Hi everyone..
I bought my coupe last April and have frequently used my A/C over the Summer months. About a month ago I started noticing a mildew smell when I turn on the A/C. The odor usually goes away or I stop noticing it after the A/C has been on for a few minutes but it is annoying to smell it every time I turn it on. Has anyone else experienced this problem and it there anything I can do to get the mildew out of the system? Will my car warranty cover this kind of problem?
TIA. -Donn

Mine did it after 2 days!
Took it back to the dealer and they ran an "Ionizer" in it for most of a day they said, and so far it's ok...but i don't need my air now...time will tell.

i have the same thing. its normal just a bit annoying. i put a few air freshners in my car so its alright now. you could try and spray some type of freshener in the vents and it should kill the smell.

or to completely stop it, turn your AC off a couple minutes before you turn off the car. This will keep the mildew from forming in the vents. Or if it is too hot to turn off AC, pop the top on the sunroof and turn on the "rest" feature with a little heat blowing, that will clear it up too.

This may be a design defect. My dealer called to ask me to bring the car in for a new heater box. A few weeks earlier I had mentioned this problem, and they treated it with some chemical. My dealer is top notch. Unfortunately, the new box arrived with shipping damage. I had a C320 wagon for the day, and don't mind rescheduling. I also had a chance to check out the new CLK: wow.

all the cars in my family has the a/c odor problem except mine, yet. tried a lot of things to get rid of the smell, but never keep the smell off for too long. A trade-off for using the a/c often i guess...

it depends on the climate of where you live as well. If you live in a humid area its common. also, if you havent used your A/C in several days (like a week) mildew does form easily (again esp in humid places).
