also check your tire pressure. That can make a big difference.

a quarter mile at a time
as said earlier, check your tire pressures. Do you usually drive short distances? I get 18-20mpg average when travelling short distances. I've gotten as high as 31mpg driving from Pennsylvania to Chicago and 29.5mpg from Vegas to Phoenix.

Go diesel, I was thinking 44mpg open road and 38mpg city weren't very good, looks like I'm doing ok, just have to not think about my neighbours BMW 320d which is getting 50mpg open road and 44mpg city.

Nice MPG! Was that when you first hit the button, or did you wait for it to drop? I was never able to get that MPG in my C320SS The best I could get was 26.5 @ 65MPH I had 50K on the clock. I guess it's not that big of a difference though. Well I guess I can't complain about my current MPG of 24.5 in a nearly 400 HP car now!

I have a Carlsson CD20 power box on order, I get an extra 26hp and 60Nm of torque all for 10,000 NOK and it's supposed to give better economy to. I might get up to 50mpg on the highway.

If you guys REALLY wanted to improve MPG I would suggest you drop your 19" wheel at 30 lbs each and get stock 16 under 24lbs or some 15", but I'm sure none of you would consider this option, or maybe that's NOT an option at all. lol.
Can anyone remember the rule when you add 1lbs on each wheel and you end up getting something like 8lbs or so to the car???

Gas Mileage c230 Kompressor Sedan SITUATION

Hey guys. Need your assistance lol...I just purchased my c230 sedan about a month ago. When I first got it, I would drive pretty aggressively, flooring it here and there, down shifting to go faster, taking it 100mph + ...But, lately I have been babying the engine, I mean REALLY babying it, I think I have annoyed people at how slow I've been accelerating and cruising. I try not to take it above 3000rpms before shifting, and cruise in 6th gear at about 68mph. But I have noticed that I have been getting roughly the same mpg when I baby it, as when I drove hard. (about 320 miles per tank, or about 22-23 mpg average) Have any of you noticed this? Does the supercharger (or something else) play a role in gas consumption when driving aggressively? I'm thinking that if I get the same mpg by either driving characteristics, maybe it's better for the engine to keep it revving a little higher, rather than undertaking it. What do you guys think?

maybe i should add that i live in new york, and it has been quite cold lately, like around 30 degrees, sometimes more, sometimes LESSS!!! BRRR!!!

p.s. sorry if this has already been discussed, i did a a search but found nothing...

What in the world is up with that rhyme at the end of your sig?!

Start with easy stuff first. Check tire pressures, condition of your engine air filter, spark plugs. Perhaps try using a fuel injector cleaner.

Something is going on, you if you baby it like you say you are, you should be getting way better mileage.

haha, you have to see my other thread "Bad Weather Driving Experiences" to understand the signature lol...

Perhaps that's an issue, I dunno if the AMG wheel setup and brakes on my car has an effect. But true, I should be getting better mileage, I feather the throttle, leave it in neutral at times going downhill, slow down slowly, etc...

As far as the fuel injector cleaner, do u have any recommendations as to which is the best for this car? Or would it not matter?
