2001 c200k with kleemann pulley
retrofit steering paddle/button shift ... does it work?
i have a 01 c200k ... but fancy to have shift button on the steering wheel ... ask a few auto-electrician ... no one seems know if that work or not ... anyone have any ideas? ... any shop in sydney does that kind of job? thanks

I agree you might not be able to use the front CANbus to tell the transmission what to do as in the factory version, but I seem to remember a couple of contacts in the steering column slip ring intended for the steering wheel heater. If the wheel heater is not fitted, you could run discrete wires to the switch on the gear selector that manually selects plus or minus. There might be a need for an interface box to get the levels and polarity right, but the goal would be to mimic the manual shift with the buttons on the back of the wheel. I have not looked at the transmission control scheme up close, but this would be my initial approach.
As to Sydney, I barely know my way from Lavendar bay to Circular Quay.

I remember reading in a bimmer forum about some guy with an X5 that did that. He had a pretty detailed diy.
