Tinted "European" coupe tails....ONLY $420...er wait, uh

I hope whoever has the ***** to list these for $400 + dollars isn't here on this board. Anyone here would know better!
I had a good laugh when I 1st saw them at 375 + 45 shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/W203-...spagenameZWDVW

But then he relisted "because of an error in the listing and RAISED the price to 425 + 45 = $470 !!

I especially love the pics of 2 different cars!
Which one has the actual items for sale?
I especially like the fake AMG emblem, and the euro license plate on
items shipping from.....San Mateo?

Buy them now, and stop driving a Mercedes that originally looks from the rear like a Dodge Neon!

Me thinks, I may have to get to tinting a few sets of tails...
3 sales would pay for Bi-Xenons!

I couldn't resist sending an message telling the guy he was nuts...that no one would buy at that price...
he replied...

: Well, I'm laughing right back at you: the set sold for $385 (previous set sold for $399) and I am now listing another set for $425. Perhaps if you can't afford Benz parts, you should drive American, or perhaps Korean?

The guy replying isn't the username of the seller....2 usernames?

Anyone have any sets of old style tails they want to sell?
Seems he may be onto something. I could make enough money to BUY an American or perhaps Korean car!!! Wow!!! Or one set of Bixenons for the price of an American or perhaps Korean car.
There's one born every day!

Simple. if you want a matte look, use a flat black.

if you want a semi-gloss look, use a semi-gloss black.

if you want a glossed look, use high gloss black!

Haha, I think that flew over a few people's heads, but gave me a little laugh.

While on this topic, which way is better to tint the tails if you only want to tint one part (i.e. the red part)? The "paint" or whatever it is, or the stick on kind? Is it so easy a caveman (such as myself) could do it?

Probably. Personally though, these tinted taillights just **** me off. The number of people I've almost run into during the day in LA traffic because of these things is way too high. It just makes the lights too damn hard to see for people behind trying to stop in bright, sunny SoCal. As if it wasn't hard enough to drive the 405 in the first place....

I think the red only tint looks much better. The clear part left alone provides some contrast.

Tinted tails don't seem to be as popular on the east coast. If it makes you feel any better, I don't plan on making them black, but more making them a darker, almost maroon, red. I'm just not sure the best way to go about doing that and whether or not I am capable of doing it myself.

Exactly.

My coupe tails had faded from red to pink over time, yuk! Ugly!

I don't want to get sued because someone couldn't see my special
European, AMG tail lights.. he he...
So I was going for darker, but not black.
At first they were a little dark, but have the tint has since faded and they are a nice deep red. Smoked, not black.

I wrote the guy and he said that these tails are actually made that way and authentic from Hella in Europe.

I was interested because they do make the back of the car look a little better.

But then realized the danger they'd cause. So I had my 05 tails medium tinted yesterday with the white part left alone. Looks great. With the 05 tails, the top of the tail light is already MB darkened, when the brake lights go on, the tinted part doesn't really make difference, and no difference to turn signal so saftety is fine.

Yeh, I left the clear part clear.
I think thats the brake lights.

Hey you're lights sound pretty cool,
would you be willing to let them go for $500 ?

Made in Europe, Mod in America.

Making claims like that....he's gonna get sued when the person has an accident and finds out the truth, and the insurance doesn't cover the damages. I'm glad mine faded...they're actually a deep red now.
Perfect.

I'm a little confused by your response... I did not get that guy's oldstyle tails. I have the newer 05 tails on my 04 coupe and i just had them tinted a little less dark than Advans' tails (which were my inspiration).

The difference between the 05 and previous tails is the white, clear accent in the middle. I left that without tint. That is the turn signal area and also the reverse light area of the tails. The brake light part is the MB smoked top of the tail and the third brake light in the middle of the hatch. These remained untouched by my recent tinting. The red part that is left was tinted, and when the lights are on for night driving, they are darker. However, the brake light portion remains untouched.

I suppose the danger of the old style tails this guy is selling is that he tinted out the turn signals and reverse lamps. Otherwise, the brake lights remain untouched. Here is a photo of Advans' tails. Thanks Advans.
