It has happened to me...

yes...this has happened to me... I remember reading a few months back... I think it was MJ's thread about HIS wheel well cover flying off....

yes..it happened to me today, on the highway, going 80mph. and my HID ballast flew off, and dragged on the floor... now I need a new cover, and new ballast...!

Holy ***** man... sorry to see this happen to you! I blame it on the added windforce from the ugly splitters.

I don't understand why all you guys have this happen Is it a design flaw? Do the screws just vibrate loose?

Advans,

Did you take a heat gun to those things prior? I pushed mine back w/ the heat gun and they're really far away from the wheel unless ive got the wheel turned all the way, and im very unlikely to be doing that at a really high speed?

Now you got me all paranoid.

G, sorry to hear this, but why did your ballast fall out? Where did you have it mounted? Did you not use my FAVORITE mounting mod to make sure it was secure?

Nobody believes me, but look at a lot of the OEM tubes. That's correct, they are zip-tied!

I mounted the ballast on the wheelwell cover. and that thing broke, so the ballast was dragging on the highway at 80mph!

Exact same for me, except that I chose not to put my pins (screws) back in because the sidewall appeared strong enough to stay on itself. Seeing this thread makes me reconsider where I am going to mount my ballasts this weekend...
