Just an idea... How about next time you secure the ballast to something more solid than the wheel well cover?

So is this caused from a clearance issue with the tire and wheel well? Or, is it caused from a bad design of the wheel well?

probably both...since the plastic is so thin, and its only held on my stupid push pins.

crap, now i'm worried. my driver's side tire touches the cover when the wheels are turned.... I wonder how long it's going to take before mine flies off... great.

Just make sure nothing is attached to it to go with it.

I don't necessarily agree though, mj.

I think it's only if you lower the car to a certain extent. My tires don't even touch that cover. It may touch the plastic on the top lining, but not the front covers near the bumper.

it just happens over time like backing out of a parking space your wheels are turned all the way and it Rubs like crazy mostly the people who posted that it happen to them have after market wheels that are larger than stock i notice mine when my mom borrowed the car and backing out of my drive way she turned i saw that its less than an inch before it hit the plastic so i was thinking if i have a bigger wheels then that has to be modified

maybe i should be more descriptive...
my tires don't touch the cover as well when parked.

this is my thinking based on my observation
factory suspension and rims - ok
amg rims and stock suspension - ok
amg rims and cup kit - ok
amg rims and tein basic - right side cover replaced twice

my conclusion is that the more u lower the car, the closer the tires will get to the cover...

solution - either use heatgun to create more gap between tires and the covers OR loosen the covers so that it's more flexible when tires touch it...

well my car is no where near dropped. but I did notice that, over time, this plastic piece sorta "warps" and bellys compared to the new piece. I think what happened was, the tire kinda "tipped" it, and the friction pulled it right off.

was probably because of the "wind load" that act on the piece caused the piece to move closer to the wheel.
