Wierd Shops in Tallahassee, FL
Ok, so i called this place called Der Meister....
me: "Hi, i have an '05 Mercedes C230 and I'd like to know how much its going to cost me to install some lowering springs..."
DM: "Who are they made by?"
me: "H&R"
DM: " Do you think that H&R can out engineer Mercedes Benz AG?"
me: "excuse me? "
DM: "the car is exactly as it should be. i know its gonna look cool now, but.."
me: "mmhmm......"
Dm: "...in a month or two im going to be pulling all sorts of broken suspension parts off your car."
me: "ok, if you dont want to make any money, you shouldve just said so in the beginning....bye!!"
This is what i get for living in tallassee. Ive called a couple of other places and theyre either 'too busy' for it, or it sounds like i may be missing some parts when i get my car back. Anybody know any reputable shops in the area (Tallahassee, FL)?? Thanks!!!

just drive around to a some performance shops, i'm sure they can do it at the gas station if you dont mind them working on your car. you just need to find a good indy or a shop that works on euro cars.

this is too funny!
I went to FSU in 2003 and I've been to Der Meister. You probably spoke to that old fat man I can't remember his name. He actually has been working on MBs for like 40 years. A very interesting man. I think I would take what he has to say into account but he is an old timer. Wow! that really brought back memories.

That guy did you a favor.
That guy did you a favor. I think that the emoticon would be better used to describe your endeavoring to lower your Benz.
That guy has been working on MB cars for probably longer than you've been alive. He is absolutely correct in stating that you would likely wear out or break many suspension components by doing this.
Plus, do you really think that somehow the car would handle better? Not likely, dude.
Save that money for the inevitable repairs your car will need. Don't waste it by making your car unable to clear a speed bump.
As for Der Meister not wanting to do that job, I totally understand. Somebody such as yourself who does not comprehend the ramifications of doing such a thing will complain about the results to no end. Then you will do exactly what you did in this forum, slander the poor guy who had the decency to NOT take your money in order to save you and him a TON of grief.
The fact is, you're a complainer. You complain when the guy refuses to screw your car up for you, just as you would if he had screwed it up. A no win situation for him, to be sure. He was wise to steer clear of your business.
In my mind, the fact that he didn't want to do the job tells me that he is an honest mechanic. If he had said "yeah sure, no problem", without warning you about what you are about to do, then he'd be doing you a huge disservice.
If you really want to lower a car, go get a beat up Caprice and have at it. Don't butcher your MB.

so you're saying that the Mercedes AMG and HWA DTM teams butcher their cars because they use H&R's ?

Not to mention rumbing issues if you have the wrong offset or it isnt done right.
No question, it can be done professionally but it requires a little bit more money over time than just the buying and installation cost.
To each his own.

I also have H&R springs on my 203, the rides handles a lot better now, there's no suspension that'll break or whatever, you don't want to go on the racetrack with just the H&R springs maybe, but that's it, it's 100% every-day-use-safe, even "speed bumps" (at least our german speed bumbs) are no problem at all, just slow down a little bit more to be safe - that's it!!!
