Installing New Pully, Belt? Replace other parts too?

Hello all,

I've been a lurker here for a while but was semi-active at MBKlasse. Finally out of school with a real job so I have some time and money to start the upgrades. I ordered a ASP Pulley from K1 Motorsports. Tom said I could use the stock belt but it seems from STF that I need a new 56" belt. Does it really matter which belt? The only thing I read is that stay away from the Goodyear Gator belts. But does anyone recommend one?

Also since I'm down there, should I replace any of the other parts? It seems like some people are replacing the belt tensioner, would this be a good idea?

Thanks for your help.

Yup, 56" 6 rib belt.
You should only need to replace the tensioner if it's making noise.
The pn is posted around here somewhere.
There's one for each belt, so if you did need it, make sure you get the right one. I ordered one and got the wrong one at first.
I'm running the Gatorback belts right now...didn't know at the time not to use them. The seems to run OK, but I'm looking at getting new belts, but oddly enough, it seems at normal straight 6 rib belt is actually a little hard to find. Contitech would be great, but extensive searching on the web shows that they don't seem to be sold in the US.

So if you can't find anything else, a gatorback belt would likely be ok until you can find something else.

Thanks for the information.

I remember when I was reading that someone was using a Jaguar belt. I might give that one a try.
