What Generates the $1150 Special Order Charge on C230 Coupes?
Anywho, here is my question...as I have shopped around I have found some coupes generate the $1150 special order charge and some do not. As best as I have tried, I have not been able to determine what it is that generates it. Case in point:
*Saw a citron green/charcoal leather coupe with the charge - 5 mb techs could not explain the charge
*Saw a white coupe with only the c7 package, nothing else, which seemed odd, and no special order charge
*Saw a silver coupe with only the panoramic roof and the special order charge
I can't quite figure it out. I've seen more that fit in this way. Any ideas? The dealers I have visited all over the country have had conflicting stories.
Thanks!

"Standard" metallic colors are $640.
Black, White, or Red are no charge - unless, say, you wanted a Red car with an "oyster" interior - THAT would be considered special order. $1150.

MB gets a little silly about the special order combo charges, but I guess we have to play with the hand that's dealt to us. I'd still like to see designo interiors hit the US, but I'd be afraid of the pricing.
Mercedes has a "matrix" that dictates what colors are available with what cars and which interior options go with those colors.
If you want to order a car that does not fit the matrix i.e.
Capri blue on a C230K the $1150 special order charge kicks in.
Your Mercedes Dealer has a chart that will tell you what selections are "specialn order"
