Trunk light does not work (revisited) and trunk fuse panel.
Good day people! I own a 2002 C230 Kompressor coupé.
My trunk light (on the left inside the trunk) does not work anymore. It was working intermittently for a while but now it’s gone for good. The bulb is good. The harness seems fine and I have no tension on the wiring. I searched the forum for a couple of hints (both in W203 forum and in the rest of the site). According to the posts I have read, it could be due to a fault in a can bus control module. I also read somewhere that these modules can be as expensive as 700$.
I’m new to MB… and I’m not wiling yet to pay 700$ to get a trunk light to work… this is just not an option.
Using a flash light in front of people when I’m looking for stuff in the trunk is not an option either.
Therefore, I’m looking for a way to install an old fashioned door switch to control my trunk light. (Exactly like my old Toyota that never failed me.) I’ve noticed that there are a lot of free connectors in the fuse box (just behind the trunk light). Does anyone know about the internal wiring of those connectors? What relay output connects to what fuse socket? Which one may I use?
Of course, if someone has an idea of how to make the original German designed trunk light to work without having to sell one of my kidneys, please let me know!
Germans and electricity don’t mix.

Why to the Brits drink warm beer? 'cause the have Lucas refridgerators
The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
Lucas--inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas--inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three-position Lucas switch--DIM, FLICKER and OFF.
The other three switch settings--SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.
Lucas dip-switch positions: LOW and BLOW
Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices
Perhaps Bosch and Siemens should be the new Lucas
