Just take it to you independent trusted mechanic. MB's are no different. I can have 'em done all 4 four under $400 probably somewhere near $300. This is what my mechanic of over 10 yrs gave me

A LOT! $800 for me but that includes the C32 Front Rotors.
CRAAAZY. The only reason I did it is because it was in the middle of the winter and I did not feel like getting out there in the cold to change them myself and the brake wear sensor had gone off.

my dealer wanted to change my pads for 400+ but i went to my indy brought him EBC pads ceramic redstuff and he installed them along with OE Brembo rotors and service B for 800 all together... they did a very good job no squeaks at all and the car stops amazing! they said to be easy on the brakes the first few days or else you'll warp your rotors. i'm just worried that the EBC pads might chew up my rotors fast

Most of the time, warped rotors (from ceramic pads) happen due to people not gothing through proper break-in procedures (i.e. bedding).

I did my research before I acquired my 2005 C230 Kompressor Sedan.
I haven't gone through my first set of brakes yet in the 2005 C230. But on the 2002 E320, the multi-function display alerted me that the brakes needed to be changed at 33,000 miles. At 33,000 miles, the dealer insisted that the brake pads and the rotors be changed on all four corners. The damage came out to $992.
Before I acquired the 2005 C230 in early January of 2005, I did inquire to the cost of the brake replacement. The dealer's estimate was something shy of $1500 if memory serves me correctly.
Put it this way, every mile you drive on these cars should cost you about a quarter (assuming you do a good mix of city/highway driving). Maintenance (oil changes, tires, brakes, and major servicing) should cost around $0.12/mile assuming you're going through regular intervals. Gasoline should cost $0.15/mile assuming $3.50/gallon and aroudn 24mpg.
That means you're costs are around $0.27/mile, plus your depreciation and insurance.

Those $40 oil changes at Honda are cheaper than the $200 Service A, but you've got to do them 4x as often. The tires last twice as long but are also in excess of $200 a tire (Michelin MX4 I think) at Costco. In the end, I'd still expect a Honda to cost around $0.07/mile to maintain and the gasoline to cost around $0.14/mile for a total of $0.21/mile. For me, I chose the Mercedes because I felt it was a safer vehicle in terms of active safety.
Keep in mind, these calculations will vary among person to person. Some areas (like the current area I'm in) have lots of stop and go driving which increases your gasoline consumption, tire wear, and brake wear and tear. These calculations are also based on my service pricing which may differ among dealerships.

I just had all four corners done on mine and the total bill was $328.00 for pads, rotors, sensors, and labor. My SA had my car in for something I couldn't fix and said I needed brakes but you probably don't want me to do them for $800+ right? He even knows their prices are out of line.
I do all of my own service, A, B, etc. and all of you should too. You are not really getting much for the money that is spent on the services.

Yes, I was there a couple weeks ago.
Check my recent thread with pics....
BTW, following the rule of replacing rotors every other time, I did
the front C32's with stock pads for 100 which was high because I bought pads from the dealer after getting wrong ones online.
They only lasted 20K miles, POS crap stock pads!
So, I got Akebono ceramics for 100 and new rotors for 100 each from
Duval. Dealer wanted 185 each!
So, 300 to do front C32 brakes. 1000? Who paid that.
Some things you can't do yourself. Save your money for those things.
The biggest part about doing brakes is just setting up and cleaning up.
It takes longer to R&R the wheel than it does to replace the pads and rotor.

The national average a few years ago for owning and operating a new vehicle was like 60 cents a mile for like a Saturn pr other compact car.
That including insurance, tires, gas, depreciation.
Overall my car has cost me about 55 cent a mile.
You're off if you're saying 21 cents, not counting everything.

The C230 is my first car so I can't say about other cars, but I did consider the Honda and the Honda isn't as cheap as you'd think.

I need new brakes too
Here is my saved shopping cart at Duval Motor Cars for OEM front and rear pads, rotors, and sensors (05 C230 Sedan). Not certain whether you need rear sensors; I thought you didn't, but MB of Anaheim's parts department said I did.
Not too bad. Prices are cheaper than dealers I've called. I'll go to an independent to get the work done. Please advise if you know of a place you can get better prices.
I found out about Duval from member Buellwinkle's personal site. Here is a link to Duval's site.
